so like, not to nitpick but how come he isn't in the "Catholic" section of the main page? i mean, Dave Phillips is there.. deservedly. but if he's there, EDF should totally be there. he's about as catholic as they come...

speaking of EDF, i was listening to The Doors' MORRISON HOTEL the other day (yeah, what of it!?) and noticing some big keyboard similarities. I wonder who his keyboard heros are..

i think he's pretty genius, and everytime he's with Frank the material is that much better. (maybe he can talk Frank into breaking out the theramin again one of these days)

i LOVE the new intro he's doing for Los Angeles (only heard it on this recent tour).. brilliant.

a cool guy too.. (met him a few times)

that is all..

I didn't think EDF was even considered a Catholic among the band. I really wanted him at my show in NY. WHY WASN'T HE THERE!

how can you not consider him a catholic when he's figures so prominently on the last 3 albums? sure, he comes and goes.. but the guy is a catholic in my book..

i was in NY too, for the Bowary Ballroom show and wondering where he was..

I would consider him a catholic, I just seem to recall him NOT being listed under the Catholics section on the cd's. As I recall he's listed as giving additional help to the tracks. I don't have any of the cd cases with me so I can't check.

I'd call him a Catholic. He's in the pictures on the Dog in the Sand album. I'd say that's his ticket to Frank Black and catholicism.

I think you can consider him as a catholic, but I think he officially isn't.

But "Frank Black and the Catholics featuring Eric Drew Feldman" would be a little bit long, now wouldn't it?

I'd like to hear the original midi-versions of "frank black" and "toty" that feldman did as roadmaps for the recordings. Other cool things he's produced : Deus- In a bar under the sea, Tripping Daisy- Jesus hits like the atom bomb. good stuff. Feldman is great. -johnny

I heard an FB interview where he said EDF was a Catholic when he (EDF) felt like it. I think he also said something like "on again off again Catholic"

Perhaps the same can be said of Joey Santiago?

I think before recording DitS he wanted to marry his Catholic girlfriend so he had to officially convert over.

yeah, after FB&TC's, dEUS is the next best thing. If you have never heard them, check out Serpentine, Secret hell, Gimme the heat, Suds and soda, and, especially, Disappointed in the Sun. Great stuff.

Now try guessing from what country I am :)

what I meant to say is, after FB&TC's and The Pixies... Anyway, the dEUS songs I listed are mostly very calm and mellow, but they have harder stuff as well (S&S was already one of those). Actually, you should check all of their music, you won't be disappointed if you give it a chance. And hey, EDF produced one of their albums, so it can't be bad now can it?

Feldman is a genius - I love his work with Beefheart, PJ Harvey and, of course, Frankus.

I know instant street and sister dew, but haven't heard ideal crash, which is a shame actually. They also have a "best of" compilation if I'm not mistaking, which is called "No more loud music", but I don't know how good this is. I'm not a fan of compilations, because they never do justice to the albums. Except the David Bowie compilation, I really enjoy that one, because I don't have the courage to get into all of Bowie's albums :)
I'm not sure what they mean with that egg thing. You mean, in the credits section, they say one of the members is playing the egg? I never noticed this, and don't have a clue what they mean. Maybe Electric Guitar -> EG -> EGG ? Just guessing tho'...

i'd say EDF is more of a catholic than joey santiago, even though joey does add a lot to the albums he appears on - when EDF is on the records his role is more significant - although joey's guitar on DITS is incredible. maybe there should be a Part Time Catholics section or something like that for EDF, Joey, Morris T, etc
