Nae probs Barry. Sarah, during one of my few attempts at teaching, I managed to induce blissful sleep in two separate members of the class. There were only about 10 in the class in total! |

Oh, everyone is here! Except dear Zanni. Where are you, lovely?
No motard news. I am just mad now - giving up hope really. Found out last night that he and some friends are playing a Valentines Show, kind of sounds like hell on earth really.
Anyway, plans for the 3 day weekend are going out tonight and sleeping in every morning! Hurrah! |

Idiot drummer boy. Feh. You deserve better, anyway. Get some sleep for me!
Andy, in my Intro to Theatre class, they'll spend about 20 class periods watching videos of plays at nine in the morning. I'll have to poke them with a stick at intervals to keep them awake.

Very funny Andy! Great idea though. I taught math of all things yesterday. I also had the class begin reading a story from a local author. He writes about true to life experiences. Which is something these kids need to relate to. I think it might have worked. Today is another day though. Although I have lots for them to do. We shall see. I am just hoping the attitude carries over. Where will you be teaching?

A teeny-tiny liberal arts college--Hendrix. (No relation to Jimi.) Someone's going on sabbatical for a term and I think I was the nearest semi-qualified person that they could rope into it.
The only other thing I've ever taught is a course in theatrical scene painting and my spouse co-taught that with me. It was not a "chalk-and-talk" situation. More like, "Let's all get covered in paint. Woo-hoo! That was fun. |

That sounds very interesting. The smaller the better. Gives you more room to incorporate your own thoughts and feelings - hopefully. Best of luck. When do you begin?

Wednesday--eep! I think it will be ok. Mostly nervous about the class with 30 students. I think I have 5 in the theatre history seminar, so we should be able to have some fun. And most of them already know me through my husband. (I hope that I can get them to stop calling me "Mrs. Bobby!") |

Sounds very cool. Introduce them to FB&C's. It will give them indirect insight into you.

Good idea, Bren. Frank is very educational, you know.
(Mr. Mae West actually choreographed a dance piece last year to The Swimmer, and the students were all like "Hey, who's that?") |

Oh yes, they're in for a very educational experience indeed! Perhaps I can give them a guided tour of the campus, pointing out various shrubs that are of particular historical significance to me.
Of course, I was only their age when I did all that stuff, so maybe they'll cut me some slack. Unlike some people I know! : P |

You try and stop me!
No major plans - a night-out at friend's tomorrow (Sheena will wreck this - we will be home by 8pm). I hope you have more planned than the preparation of lectures. |

Might finally get to see Two Towers this weekend. Zelda has been unusually quarrelsome the last couple of days, which is usually a prelude to some sort of illness. Sigh. [We've had 3 "Bad 'No' Days" in a row (you know, where you have to ask the kid politely a million times to do something but she says no until you get really stern. What a drag.)]
So Sheena is not a late-night party baby? What's your 4 year-old's name?

Sheena is fine in our own house, but creates merry hell if we attempt to socialise elsewhere. Catriona is much more of a party animal - she never wants to go back home.
So is Z named after 'Save Me the Waltz?' |

Wow, Andy, ya'll are excellent namers! Beautiful names.
Nah, we just liked the meaning of Zelda (and the Z-ness of it): "battle maiden." Her middle name is Mars, so I guess she's the Martian battle maiden. We shouldn't be allowed to name any more children. I'm quite happy with "Zelda Mars," but if we were to have another girl and carry on in the "space name" vein we'd end up with "Isadora Borealis" or some such horror. Or I'd have twin boys and name them Virgil and Homer and they'd end up being called "Virgin" and "Homo" all through school. Yep, best we quit while we're ahead.
Bob wanted to name her "Olympia DeLuxe." Totally sounds like a stripper's name. |
