Would it be completely ridiculous to take up a collection to buy Frank a present? I was thinking if we all put in a buck or two we could buy him a guitar or something from his friends at frankblack.net.
Just another stupid suggestion.

I give him a present every damn time I pay for his music.
I mean, jeez, I like the guy's music and all but I don't know anything about him personally, so why would I give him a personal present.
I think it's going a bit too far. A bit into obsessive fan territory.
I say, pull back there, chief.

Yea, let's get him a present, that's a good idea. How about we all pitch in and get him a nice anklet.

I like the anklet idea as well! Or maybe a nice hair dryer (the kind with the bowl that goes over your head) |

Well, actually a couple of kind folks *have* sent me $$. =)
See the bottom of: http://www.frankblack.net/about/
We are good for the next couple years. If we can generate more revenue, we could organize more fun stuff with the site.. Maybe actually get together a Tribute CD, or have contests with prizes, or give Dave a salary for doing all this. =)
No no, you're too kind.. ;)
If anyone is in touch with the labels, let 'em know we're here..i suggested some cross-promotion to them but was promptly ignored.

You know what?? This is the kind of stuff that is going to take this site down, if it keeps up. I'm sorry, but I think some of the stuff on here just detracts from the real purpose, to discuss our mutual love/admiration, etc of FB&TC's music. I'm sorry Dave N, but I had to chime in here. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes or be a party-pooper, but really. Please stop these ridiculous, and yes, sick posts.

How can the thought of committing an act of kindness and gratitude be considered sick? Who cares who the person is that these thoughts were directed towards. This forum is becoming as anonymous and petty as any other chat or forum that has been created. If you don't have anything constructive or nice to say, just don't say anything at all. There are many quality people on this site, let's remain that way. Jokes are great and laughter is good for you, but not when it is at the expense of others. If you do not like the way someone is acting, then ignore them....they will go away. Anyways, cool idea Mr. Grieves. I wanted to give Frank a book about John Candy while he was in Toronto. I was going to set it on the front of the stage before the show. But I didn't. Allowing this site to stay strong and healthy is a great thought as well. I would give Mr. Black a token of my appreciation for what he has given me but I think that the site is enough. Maybe a gift for the amazing creators of the site would be a fantastic idea.

I see nothing wrong with getting Frank a present. He'd probably appreciate it. I mean, instead of us asking him for something (like an autograph or a picture), just go up to him after a show and give him something cool.
and MIRV, i don't see how it's sick to give Frank a little present. It's not like we are gonna spend $2000 or buy him a 33-string bass.
MIRV, I'm still neutral about you, but it can't be a coincidence that about every topic you post in, someone get's pissed and a virtual fight ensues. Perhaps your choice of words are a bit harsh to use toward other Frank Black fans? I don't know.

Ok, I just want to clarify a couple of things.
One, it's the post of the razor blades and MIRV's comment about them that I find disturbing, sick, and really completely unnecessary.
Two, I'd like to NOT see this become a site that Frank and the guys are embarrassed of, and stuff like this will get us there REALLY quickly. I've done my share of joking, and it was all lighthearted, or so I thought, and you know what? I was directly told to cut it out, I'm not saying by whom, but this stuff is read by more folks than you think, and some of it is totally NOT appreciated. Believe me when I say that it was NOT fun being basically told off by someone who I totally respect and admire. But I deserved it, I shouldn't have been so stupid in the first place to say such things, even in jest, and now I'm sorry, but it's too late.
Three, I see nothing wrong with giving Frank a gift. In fact, my two daughters 6, and 4, who absolutely love his music, had drawn two pictures, one of the band and one of his cats, and I gave them to him in Philly. Frank couldn't have been more gracious in accepting them, and it warmed my heart, because I thought "What the hell is he going to want with these two drawings?" But he even said something like "I'll find a special place to hang them." Whatever happened to them, I don't care, because his kindness and graciousness was the greatest gift that I could have ever received from him.
I'm done with this topic. I don't get angry very much, but this has done me in. I'm just trying to make everyone realize that generally I think we all want this site to be a healthy, vibrant representation of Frank Black and the Catholics, not a FB toxic waste dump that alienates the very people we are all so very fond of.
Now I need a beer, geez. Zan

Yeah, have a beer for me too.
It is so tiring to see anyone get petty and basically just stupid about something as KIND HEARTED as wanting to give someone something because you feel you have gotten something SO PRECIOUS from him.
That's all. Three cheers for Zan!
With love for Frank and those who feel the same, Ramona
