have been watching these teenager things and what has ended up i totally agree with... the first 10 songs on the album would have made a fucking 10 out of 10 album, but most/all of the rest are filler..... he should have left them off.... made a real short 30 min long 10-song album.... would have been fucking album of the decade.... whenever i listen to TOTY, i hardly ever make it past song 10....
now, i'm not saying he should have done a similar thing with BLD.....90% of the songs on this are fantastic, so no chopping required.....
I felt the same way when Teenager first came out. But slowly over the months I started getting past Hostess and into Superabound...and Big Red, and Space Will Do Me Good.....and I must say that I would most definitely not want any of the songs excluded from the album. The "survivor" threads are fun and it's interesting to see who likes what songs the best, but now, the album would just seem "incomplete" with just one of the songs missing. Teenager is a great album to listen to while laying out on the backporch on a hot summer night under a star-filled sky, with a half-case of cold ones. Put it on auto repeat and let the music just take you away. Great, great album.
BLD and DW are both incredible and they are simply unbeatable when it comes to good driving records. Perfect companions to take along when driving out old country roads at night or stretches of desert by day. Especially BLD.
You're crazy! I love every song except part of Two Reelers. I don't under stand why people like the first one so much. I only like 4 songs or so off that and it pales in comparison to Trompe which was made pretty much simultaneously. TOTY is a classic that belongs side by side with Doolittle and Surfer Rosa.
