Nothing says Sunday like Lifetime original movies. Washed-up sitcom stars play women-in-danger who fight back against evil men. Lifetime movies take hilarious subjects like anorexia and make them even funnier.
A while back during their "You Can't Choose Your Relatives" marathon, they had a movie about a woman whose teenage son was becoming violent. Delta Burke got the shit kicked out of her. Instant replay, please.

I never understood those lifetime movies. They're for women, but every one that comes on, rape, abuse, stalking. It's ridiculous. I'm pretty sure if I was a woman I wouldn't want to watch movies of other women getting beaten and raped by men. But hey, whatever works.

Did that movie where Delta Burke got beat down happen to be Dangerous Child? I saw that. It was sad when he hurt the cat.

One of my more guilty pleasures. I can actually feel my brain decay as I watch, but the acting & storylines push the "so-bad-that-it's-good" button hard. One more sin confessed to the world on FB.net!

"Coming up next on Lifetime, the channel for women...A gripping tale ripped from today's headlines...Patricia Richardson stars in 'My Best Friend's Husband Who is Really My Daughter's Father Stalks Me While Getting My Dog Pregnant'. You're watching Lifetime, the channel for women."

Anyone ever seen Murder At My Door? It was actually originally a made-for-TV movie on Fox. I have it on tape. It stars Judith Light as a mother in a dysfunctional family where it slowly becomes clear that the oldest son in the family is killing teenage girls. It's the most pointless shite ever, and I don't know what the message is they're trying to get across with it, but what's cool is that the kid who is killing all these young women kills himself at the end by walking into a burning house shortly after he's tried to kill Laura Harris (from 24, The Faculty, Sabrina the Teenage Witch). At least there is plenty of death! Ugh, but it's so bad, though.

Oh, how could I neglect to mention that the guy killing all the teenages girls was Johnny Galecki, best known as Kevin "David" Healy on Roseanne and he was also Rusty Griswald in Christmas Vacation. And Peter Brown in Vanilla Sky. It's funny to see who ends up in these for made-for-TV movies.

I like the one with Valerie Bertinelli and Michael Onkean, (sp?) from Twin Peaks, where he's murdered her sister and she's trying to get custody of their kid. Chris Meloni from Law and Order is also in it. I think it's called "In My Sister's Name" or something crappy like that. The best part is when the police come and spray the house with that blood finding chemical. You don't know what happened until you jump to that night, Michael O's parent's (who have been supporting him in a horribly righteous way) get into bed and turn off the lights and the whole room turns green and splattered looking with everywhere blood was. It's awesome!

My favortie involves a husband-beating woman.

There's one scene where she kicks the crap out of him and tosses him through a glass door or something. As he's writhing on the floor she trips and bangs her head on a table.

When the police arrive, they see that the woman has a black-eye and assume that the husband made the mess and popped her one. He goes off to jail.

I forget the rest. I forget the title.

We do! Although if you show a boob there is hell to pay, unlike other more liberal boobie contries. Anyway, check www.televisionwithoutpity.com for proof of our awesome selections. Man, I heart that site.

"Dangerous Child" I didn't know the name. Yeah that was pretty sad when he was hugging the cat and apologizing and crying.

My wife has recently got sucked into the vortex of Lifetime television...I've just noticed that about 95% of the shows on there in some way or another feature Annie Potts, best known for her stellar, riveting role playing "Janine" in Ghostbusters I and II, then later "Designing Women."

Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry

i think most lifetime movies aren't affirming stories for women, but excuses for women to hate men - just like i think most "men's" programming isn't pro-men, its anti-women
