I went to www.amazon.com to see how much the Come on Pilgrim/Surfer Rosa combination CD was going for...and low and behold:
Original Doolittle: Out of stock. Original Trompe Le Monde: Out of stock. Original Bossanova: Out of stock. Original Surfer Rosa: Out of stock. Death to the Pixies: (Finally) Out of stock.
The re-issued ones are still selling pretty fast, too. I'm guessing that the only Pixies CD's that are going to be available from now on are going to be the re-issued ones...Atleast people are listening to better music now, I guess. *sigh*
EDIT: Oh my...I just looked at the Sales Rank for the best selling Pixies album on amazon and it's number 481! 481, my god!! Compare that to what used to be literally 10,708 (I shit you not.)

Well albums do sell when there is news reporting about a band.
However I want to see some official T-Shirts. I don't care if I ave to buy them at Hot Topic(shudders), I just want an official Pixies T-Shirt in 3X.

just been looking at amazon's 'sales rank' - quite interesting, surfer rosa and doolittle are doing *very* well at the moment, of course i don't have any old figures to compare them with, but i'm sure they can't have been lingering around 130 for the last 5 or so amazon years! i did look at amazon.com's sales rankings too, but they weren't as impressive, you guys just don't appreciate the pixies as much as we do!

Here's a sad story with an ending that seems to just keep getting better. And it's almost related to this topic! My truck was broken into while I was traveling on business. I honestly thought that there was nothing of value in it to entice a thief with. But when I returned I found my window popped out anyways. They took everyting from the center console and glove compartment. So basically a bunch of minor inconveniences, except for a handfull of CDs. Unfortunately they were mostly Pixies CDs :( plus a Toadies CD & a Breeders CD. I was really pissed to relize they took my Bosanova CD which Kim had signed (along with a Breeders ticket stub that Kelly signed). But later I was devistated to learn that Death was out of stock!!! So I was the happiest man on Earth yesterday when my wife surprised me with a Death CD (still in the plastic) and a Pixies shirt (doubt its authentic, but I care not) for Valentine's day. So although I'm probably not the one making the sales sky rocket, I have been helping a little over the past few months. I just hope the gang is getting good money from finally being recognized by the masses in the US. -roger.

I can't believe that there is that much of a gap between Bossanova and Trompe. |

And it was my Toadies Live CD too, with the cover of Where's My Mind. :( I've yet to check out the Burden Brother's live, but I've been to about 5 Toadies shows since about `95 without even trying. Never was disappointed even once. Wish they were still around though. My wife actually asked me yesterday if I even liked any bands that were still alive or together. -roger.

Oh, I've got your explanation for that one. The thief took my TLM CD jacket, put didn't get the CD since it was in my CD player. So I didn't have to restock that one. Hence the lower sales ranking. But if anybody happens to have the TLM CD booklet scanned in, I could use a copy. I was amazed that I could not find one already online. -roger.

Holy shit! I can't believe they're selling so well now. It would be hillarious if the albums went back on billboard because of this. |

it'd be interesting to see how many those albums have actually sold, in total, ever... as they've just been selling and selling ever since they were made... well, duh! but you know what i mean, their reputation has been getting greater and greater, nme have raved about doolittle a few times (no.2 album of all time or something)... whereas something like take that's debut album, i doubt it's selling much now...
erm, Amazon.co.uk Sales Rank: 2,551 (take that and party)
well okay, not a great example, but i'm sure it's just dropping out of the rankings... or maybe a few kids had their cd's stolen and they had to buy new ones?
man, that's going to screw up my amazon 'recommondations'!

what do you expect from people that say that the best pixies album is dttp?(i actually read that in a forum)it's just the hype that makes those records to sell.when the media exposure will finish and the pixies return to anonymity all those fashion victims will start selling their copies.it's like the stockmarket:they are not cool anymore!sell sell sell!
