I find that my current amp doesn't seem to be producing low and high tones simultaneously all that well. If I play a lead with the right hand and chords/bass in the left, a lot of that lead is just not amplified very well - and I have the low end eq'd quite far down.

It's a little frustrating, because when I unplug from the amp and play directly from the keyboard's speakers, the sound is still fine. Is this a common problem with amps? Am I playing too loud? Anyone?

Someone have a really solid amp that they love? Does anyone else out there play an instrument other than guitar? Helllooooo? :)

...which brings me to another question, what's a good keyboard to get with a lot of synthesizer modes and features for I guess around $1000? I go to Guitar Center a lot and just mess around with them but I really don't have a clue what I'm looking for, what brands are good, quality, etc.

I hear a bass amp is often a good way to go for keyboards.

I wouldn't trust a keyboard with speakers built into it tho..haha

Heh, true Dave, it's pretty decent though it's no Korg (it's a Casio). It's all a peasant like myself can afford though. :(

It does what I need it to do, though, so...

I play the guitar, upright bass, keys, and some percussion. As for amps, have you tried the Peavey KB/A 30? I don't mike the amp for recording, though. I just plug the keyboard into my system. That seems to eliminate all the room noise. But that's probably a bad idea.

I think we'll need to start a 'Keyboard for the CoF' fund...

Woohoo! Soon we'll be able to afford one of the ones that take a 9-volt and clips onto your belt.

=P
