Just curious, has there been increased traffic since the big announcement? If so, how much? I'm doing what I can on other boards I hang out at to spread the news!

Yeah..let's see..
Average log file size in Jan: ~5mb
Log file size on Feb 4th: ~30mb
Average # of visitors per day on in Jan: >2,100
Haven't cracked open the massive log file yet, but we're down to around 15mb per day now. =)

these last days i find it hard to log in the forum.it keeps giving me weird asp\driver errors liek this:
(Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e31'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired
/forum.asp, line 331 )
or i can't even connect to the home page.and for some weird reason the flashing cat and the flames in the "hot" topics don't appear anymore.traffic overload maybe?

| whats with the attitude to members who havent posted much or are newbies? Some people just prefer to read and post occasionally. Ive been on the message boards for a while, back on yahoo, but you know, when you try to put a point across or act friendly sometimes people just dont wanna know! It's like Vietnam, "you werent there dude!" even though ive been there from the beginning but just am content to find out whats going on rather than getting my 2 cents 50 times a day. So there you go...virtual intimidation...it happens...its like the whole posts thing is like war medals! Damn! If only I was so brave to post more often...nah, think i'll get drunk instead. |

you can get drunk and post while you are drinking.that's how you make your post count grow.
besides that i think that this forum is pretty newbie friendly but many people don't respect the obvious rules like posting spam or posting stuff in wrong sections and so on.it's irritating for regular users to find hundreds of crossposts everytime they use the active topic thing.IMHO if you like to hang around in a real or virtual place you should respect some general rules,if not you should aspect to be intimidated.

Not had the messages but I agree that the site has slowed down a little. I should think that those on a standard56k dial up may be struggling though. I'm glad I'm on broadband, if only for the ticket buying exercise tomorrow.

I think it's incredibly stupid to have any sort of "attitude" towards newbies, I hate that mentality. The whole "whoever has posted more hierarchy" sort of baffles me.
That said, if one more person posts a "what is your favorite/least favorite Pixies song" topic, I might have to rub a few people out. |

Malax - i had several posts floating around that said 'private message me if you want a Brixton ticket', and i'd send them a note about the extra shows.
