Have you guys heard this?
"PATTERSON, La. - Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia traveled as an official guest of Vice President Dick Cheney on a small government jet that served as Air Force Two when the pair came here last month to hunt ducks.
The revelation cast further doubts about whether Scalia can be an impartial judge in Cheney's upcoming case before the Supreme Court, legal ethics experts said. The hunting trip took place just weeks after the court agreed to take up Cheney's bid to keep secret the details of his energy policy task force.
. . . Cheney and Scalia were whisked away in a heavily guarded motorcade en route to a secluded, private hunting camp owned by an oil industry businessman.
. . . 'I do not think my impartiality could be reasonably questioned,' Scalia wrote.
. . . 'I expect that all of the justices were invited to the vice president's annual Christmas party,' Scalia wrote.
Ok, so what the fuck!?? Could it be anymore clear if GOD interrupted every television channel and we were told point blank that Bush and his entire administration are Evil Fuckheads? How can people still support Bush after so much blatant deception? And what the hell is that Christmas Party? The article only mentions it that one time and it isn't explained.

Hey, 'scutor, you got a link to that story? I'm of the belief that every administration, and all the politicians and judges, save a precious few (RIP Sen. Wellstone), behave in just such a manner. Cynical, maybe, but it doesn't make me give up hope, and I am getting an angrier fire in my belly every day. So, where's that link, 'cause this is unreal.

Ah Apl, I knew I could count on you for a response. I tried to find a link for this story but didn't find one. It was in the Feb 6th Berkshire Eagle of MA. I looked at the BE website and the Boston Globe but couldn't find it; I didn't look any further though. I assure you what I typed are direct quotes from the article. when I get out of work I'll look at other websites to see if I can find a link for you.

Hey, that's ok. I tried to find something recently online referring to a segment I heard on NPR, something ridiculous about Bush intentionally saying "nuclear" incorrectly. I knew I had just heard it, maybe in the last 3 days, and it was nowhere to be found. I don't know if I'll ever find it. So, my point is, don;t worry, I can do my own footwork, 'cause I'll be hounding around anyway.
I dunno if you are in the market for buying a subscription to a magazine, but getting one to Harper's has made me very happy indeed. The only problem is that their site does not publish all of their articles, and I want *so badly* to share them hehehe.

haha, what's this about purposely saying nuclear wrong? I mean I've heard him say "nucular" a lot but why does he do it on purpose? Do you remember any more from that broadcast?

Sure - the guy being interviewed, I believe he was an editor for the Post (Washington), though I could be completely off -I'm good at that - bugger, let's just assume we don't know who it is, and move on. Anyway, he was saying that Bush has actually been known to say it correctly, with no apparent effort, on numerous occasions in the past. The theory is that saying it improperly does several things, but 2 are most potent: 1.endears him to the common man, by making him seem more masculine, powerful, human, approachable and real 2.makes those who are against him "misunderestimate" him.
It's been said on many occasions (though I'm gonna paraphrase here, for fun) that he may not be the most astute knife in the drawer, but he knows which sandwich is egg salad and which ones are chicken-salad-gone-a-little-off when they open the basket at the picnic, and he'll befriend and bamboozle every last picnicker at the Social to make sure he gets the egg salad......And Carl Rove ain't no dumb puppy either.
For the record, Jimmy Carter said it the same way, as did a couple other presidents, I believe. In fact, I just saw a documentary where a top German physicist said nu kyoo-lar. Be that as it may, I don't put any word or voicing or action past Carl Rove's image processing machine. That's just the way it works, non?
