Alright... this is my first thread on here. This topic may have come up before (I wouldn't be surprised if it did).

So here goes... post your least fave Pixies song(s).

For me, it would have to be Silver on Doolittle.

And saying that you don't have a least fave is a copout!

Silver is the worst! There was a long thread like this a while back but i can't remember if any definitive decision was made.
I'm sure Silver must have been the worst.

I would say that their four or five least good album tracks are on Trompe Le Monde... "Space (I Believe In)" is probably the worst. Among the b-sides "Build High" is almost painful.

Why "Silver" btw? Okey, "Doolittle" is more or less a part of my nervous system so just the idea that something on that one could be considered as less fantastic is a chocker, but it beats me even in this rather level headed moment. I can't see what's unpleasent with it... It's a perfect breathing space. The album wouln't really be the same without it.

Am I crazy? I love Silver! It's like a theme to an alien Western. Worst Pixies song? Here Comes Your Man. Hearing that when it was the "hit single" kept me from checking out the band for years because I thought they were some sunshine & strum cutsie college music losers, not the weird and wild post-punks that I now know and love. Rock ON!

silver, yeah, although there's a certain beauty to it. the breeders version of it is quite good actually. i think it's not a bad song, just not keen on how frank sings it... for me it'd be wave of mutilation, tony's theme and gigantic.

I'd say "Tame" is a bit overrated. I don't think it's BAD, certainly, but I don't like it as much as everyone else seems to.

As for the worst Pixies song, I guess I'll just jump on the bandwagon and say "Silver." It has its merits, but, at the moment, I can't think of one I enjoy less.

Probably Cactus, mind you there is a one or two weak songs from TLM.
A lot of the B-Sides are pretty pointless eg Build High or the Velvety Instrumental Version.

the only song i ever regularly skip over is planet of sound, and it's just the first 15 seconds of the bubbly sound that really just gets on my nerves. i like silver. and i like tony's theme. and i like the others too.

There are a lot of Pixies songs I actively dislike...for such a great band, they sure do have a lot of stinkers. U-Mass, Tony's Theme, La La Love You (probably my LEAST favorite), and Debaser, one of the most overrated songs I've ever heard. It's not bad, but it's far from their best.

i'd say crackity jones would be my least fav album track actually.

but of all songs, build high is shocking.
theme from narc would've won, but they never wrote it, so it doesn't count.

Vamos gets old for me pretty quick and Tony's Theme is pretty non-essential to say the least.

I like all the B-Sides.

Silver is good

TLM is my favorite album, but I agree that a couple of the songs on there aren't essential; but the others MORE than make up for it for me.

Different one grow on me at different times, I like Silver more'n I used to. That said, All Over The World coulda done with less choruses.

Santos and some of the TLM tracks. But..., who knows!!! Some of my favourite songs doesn't liked me at the beginning. I'm agree with the one who says 'Tame' is good, but overrated.

Notice Santo's here a lot, and I remember reading a review of it saying it was an ugly song praps I'm odd cause s'been one of my four-five favourites for a long time. Sad Punk too has my favourite Frank scream.

Silver's not there best, but I always liked it...very atmospheric and strangly moving. Dis.Equals. is a bit dodgy, it was originallly part of Subbaculcha.

I tend to think the spoken intro to "Tony's Theme" makes the song worthwhile. I don't have really strong feelings toward "Santo."

I love tony's theme, it balances out surfer rosa great. That album is so wicked and dark yet silly and playfull at the same time. I always thought Tony just added to that. and i always thought the ambiguity of where is my mind was a great representation of the entire album. this is a sad subject..i really do love all their songs, even planet of sound after the first 15 seconds worth of it. isnt anyone else here with me?

bop.
