The show is an 89 show, right? Do we have an idea of the setlist on that show yet? Does anyone know?
I just want a more "full career spanning" show...

It's '88 (I think), and yeah, I'm a wee bit disappointed that the setlist only goes as far as Doolittle.

I have a bootleg dated 5/1/88 and it's from Town And Country Club London, England. The setlist for the show is below, but again not sure if this is the same show. If it is, its a great show!!
1. The Holiday Song 2. Nimrod's Son 3. Bone Machine 4. Levitate Me 5. Ed Is Dead 6. Where Is My Mind? 7. Caribou 8. Something Against You 9. Hey 10. Gigantic 11. I've Been Tired 12. Vamos 13. In Heaven 14. Tony's Theme 15. Wild Honey Pie

One more thing, I on the B-Sides album "Vamos" and "In Heaven" are from the Town and County Club show :)

I thought it was very disappointing to read that the DVD would be 2h30 long only
4AD should have also put the 91 Brixton show which is often found in bootlegs (but with a crappy sound), and gives a broader perspective
Anyone agree ? |

4ad worked up to the budget limit on this DVD - there wasn't a chance of putting more on there - however, who knows, maybe Brixton will come out on it's own in the future... it just wasn't possible this time |

the town and country show is an awesome show though..... i find it much better than the brixton one - even though it's shorter etc.... much more intimate and it's just plain awesome! and seeing kim stoned out of her tree is quite funny.
i suggested on an earlier thread that a double dvd release of the '91 brixton show and a '04 brixton show (if they in fact happen) would be fucking awesome!

If someone tapes the reunion tour then it'd be an interesting idea to put out a reunion DVD that also contained a show from the first time around so we can all compare and contrast....

Yeah, it's a pity tht's the only live stuff. I don't suppose there'll be any NEW interviews/material especially for the DVD? |

Funny. I've never heard it put that way. I'm looking forward to seeing that too...Personally, I find it unbelievable that anyone would get stoned (on bud, that is) before going on stage. I would be WAY too self-conscious. It would not be comfortable bakedness...why even bother???
Now, a little alkie-lubrication...that soothes the nerves before a show. Unless you take it a step too far. Then it can prove detrimental.
The Brixton show shoulda shoulda shoulda been on this DVD! Both that and the Town & Country gig. Budget is no excuse!!! Serve up the goods, jo |

A lot of the footage in the Gouge Documentary is from the same show it seems. Is that show the Town & Country? or is it the '91 Brixton? or is it an entierly different show? I think it is Town & Country... |

the Gouge docu used the Town and Country Club footage...
and Carl, the new material (as such) is the Pixies on the road footage - so far it has only been seen by a handful of people. |

my only complaint is that i don't have it yet. how long has it been since 4ad initially said that a pixies dvd was in the works? i am, and have been, extremely excited about this dvd. i just don't want to have to wait any longer.
and now i'm living in the cold but i'm looking for the sign |

ok, so Douglas, don't buy the DVD then! I'm not forcing anyone to here... although to be fair, the footage used on Gouge was not complete songs, and was all sepia-tinted, wasn't it?
and surferben, loads of other places reported it before 4ad, which was a couple of years too soon (we only got worldwide rights back to the Pixies catalogue last year), and it has been in the works since - unfortunately, you can't just make a decent DVD overnight, but it is happening this year. Once I get a release date, I'll say more - but there's not a lot else to say at the moment. It's all in production. |

you who "have" it?you don't have it you just recorded it from the tv or downloaded it from somewhere for free and it's not the same thing as owning the original dvd.plus as jo said the documentary doesn't have complete songs but just bits and pieces in black and white.i used to share the documentary on line but i never thought that people would even consider not buying an original pixies dvd just because they downloaded a low resolution tv show.people like that don't have the right to complain about the official releases...

if you don't want to buy the ruddy dvd then don't buy it...
4ad seem to have complied almost everything onto this dvd that they could (monetary meaning no 91 brixton show), and i for one will be buying it even though i have evrything that is included on it...
i canny wait..

of course I'm going to buy it, and I've been looking forward to it for a long time, and still am. It was just a reflection... I'm sorry if I upset anyone. Didn't mean to. As I said, I'm still excited, especially over that "on the road"-stuff. |

At the end of Sonic Youth's '1991;The Year Punk Broke' video, which features live performances by Nirvana and Dinosaur JR., among others, Thurston Moore mentions Black Francis, 'though ther is no footage of him/Pixies. If it ever comes out on DVD, then the inclusion of extra material that may feature FB would be cool. |

jo- sorry if it sounded like i was holding you personally responsible. i understand that it takes time, and in no way would i like the overall quality of the dvd to be lessened due to haste. i just want to have my cake and eat it too, so to speak. anyways, i will be proudly purchasing the dvd on its release date [whenever that may be :)].

And I'm sure there will be future releases...and probably not too far in the future, seeing as the reunion will stir up new interset in the band. |
