Short and sweet:
FB showed up promptly on time and played several songs solo (among them 21 Reasons, Manitoba, BEautiful Day, Bullet, Crackity Jones) on acoustic in front of approximately one-hundred people in store. A lot of jokes and banter---sometimes while playing the songs themselves. Made jokes about only eating catfish since he arrived in Georgia and how his wife wanted him to delete the "fuck" out of Beautiful Day, but he had yet to find as appropriate a word to rhyme with "luck". Someone from the board, I believe---Ed, if I'm not mistaken---requested 21 Reasons, and FB played most of it, saying that he wouldn't be playing it with the rest of the band, since they had trouble remembering the song, or something like that. Turned out that FB stopped it a little short for the same reason, but it was nice of him to give it a shot, and it was a very good version. A few pushy people here and there taking photos of FB from literally a foot away, which prompted FB to say, "How's this for an idea? Take the photos between songs." Personally, I would have snapped the kid's arm off, but that's just me. I thought FB handled the imposition very well, and he was extremely personable and self-effacing during the rest of the appearance. He even stuck around to talk and sign stuff; I spoke briefly with him about driving from Florida and he said he was "long overdue" in Florida and would be coming around in March. All right!
