FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!
the article on the xfm website: X-clusive: Pixies Reunion London Shows Announced
This is the news you’ve been waiting for. The speculation is over. As exclusively revealed this morning by Christian O’Connell on the Xfm Breakfast Show, legendary outfit The Pixies have reformed and are confirmed to play two headline dates at Brixton Academy this summer.
With rumours flying around for months about a reunion, Xfm Online can confirm that this summer will see the first UK shows in 13 years from the original line-up of Frank Black, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering reformed as the Pixies.
The Brixton Academy gigs will take place Wednesday June 2 and Thursday 3. Tickets go on sale from 9.00am this Saturday (February 7).
Tickets are available from the Xfm Xchange on 0870 121 1049 or from the Xfm Online Live Gig Guide by clicking here (http://www.xfm.co.uk/sectional.asp?id=343).
Rumours started last year when Frank Black told Xfm in an interview that he dreamt of a Pixies reunion and that the band even get together every now and then to jam.
“We [Pixies bassist Kim Deal, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago] do get together and have private jams together, but not for public consumption.” Prior to these shows, the influential alt-rockers are expected to play some warm-up shows in North America before they co-headline Coachella in California on May 1 alongside Radiohead and Kraftwerk.
The comeback tour will then travel to Europe for the headline shows, festival appearances and a support slot on the Red Hot Chili Peppers summer arena tour bill.
Black and co will then travel to Balado near Glasgow to appear on the main stage at this year’s T in the Park festival on the first day of the event stretching over the weekend of July 10 and 11.
Elsewhere, the band's former label 4AD will release a 23-track 'Best Of' album entitled 'Wave Of Mutilation' and a DVD called 'Pixies' sometime this year. The DVD will feature eight promos, a 1988 concert taped at London's Town And Country Club and the documentary 'Gouge', featuring interviews with Radiohead's Thom Yorke, David Bowie and Bono.
The Pixies’ American dates will be the first time they've toured together since U2's 1992 ‘ZOO TV’ tour.
The band's confirmed tour dates so far are as follows:
Coachella, California (May 1 - 2) Brixton Academy, London (June 2 - 3) Phoenix Park, Dublin (with Red Hot Chili Peppers) (12) SOLD OUT Parc Des Princes, Paris (with Red Hot Chili Peppers) (15) SOLD OUT T in the Park, Glasgow (July 10 - 11)

Called the Academy - they get you to ring Ticketweb - who haven't got any information yet. The guy at Ticketweb was really helpful and asked if I'd heard about it via the radio and explained that they still haven't got any info at all on their system. He knew the dates before I mentioned them so they've obviously been getting calls...

Cheers Lads. Much appreciated. Fingers crossed now we'll be able to get the tickets now. I'd much rather see them on there own than with the chilli's in phoenix park. |

Little dissapointed to find the Dublin gig sold out but fuck it, both nights at the astoria are gonna be huge. I wonder if they'll play the Leeds and Reading festivals later this year..

If only it were 25 quid; that Stargreen link is £28.75 + £4.85 p&p. Don't you just love ticket agents? |

i actually work for the said ticket agents (ticketmaster/ticketweb)... it's always fun telling people about the service charges and postage! it never goes down too well!
yeah, that is a lot, i'm still debating whether or not i can make it to brixton around then (will probably have exams) and whether or not it's worth it... i mean i'm planning on going to T, and maybe V for a day to see them, and hopefully Glaston if they play there too... But I would like to see them in a proper venue, but it's so much to pay! arrgghh! i don't know what to do!!!

ah, to be a student again aye....
but i think a proper headlining concert would be a must-see any day over a festival slot....so that would settle the argument for me.....

Sir, hope you don't think it was personally aimed at you! To be honest, I would appreciate a breakdown of the cost; surely you can appreciate that from the punter's end, not armed with the inside knowledge, it does look like a rip-off. |

It's going to cost me £120 for 4 tickets. £5 for postage? I want them delivered by Frank Black himself for that much. The total booking fee alone is the same as I payed to see FB&tC at the same venue few months ago. I hate ticket agencies. And I'm still ordering them. |

So if they were bought direct from the Academy, would they still be £25?
It may actually be worth a train ride for me is all.... Also does anyone know if they're limited in any way?

ya can't buy tickets from the Academy itself any more - they'll just send ya too ticketmaster/ticketweb. so save yaself the train ride.
and the capacity of the venue is 4700 - so just depends on how quickly the tickets sell.
