DAMMIT ALL TO HELL!! Do you realize how hard it is going to be to get a ticket to this shit? Only 11 dates? Whereas EUROPE get 3 damn MONTHS of touring?
BULLSHIT, American fans are getting royally screwed. There go my dreams of seeing the Pixies, they will NEVER play anywhere NEAR Kentucky, where I am from. I had hoped they would play Cincinnati or maybe Louisville or Lexington here in KY, but if there is only 11 dates then there is no way they will hit such small venues.

Well I'll atleast get to see them in Boston. Though I was really hoping they'd hit one of the Connecticut casinos... Hopefully there's still a chance for that though.
Also there is a chance for an expanded North American tour if the first 11 shows go well. |

Settle down. It will be okay. From the press release:
quote:
The band will then embark on a European tour starting May 28 and ending July 10.
That's more like a month and a half really (the last few days of May, June, the first week and a half of July), not three months. Plus, why in god's name wouldn't they do a more complete USian tour after that? There's still the second half of the summer and the fall left. Simply because they were bigger there than here? Bah. There's still plenty of money to be made in the US by playing more than 11 dates.
Settle down before you have an aneurysm or something. If I'm wrong and they re-break up or something in mid-July, then yes, have an aneurysm. Fly into an apoplectic rage. I'll probably join you. |

Yeah, I mean, they are going where they can clearly have big shows with lots of their biggest fans. They just didn't do as well in the US as they did in Europe, so it makes sense to me. Plus, if they play 11 dates spread throughout the US - and there is enough time to plan, it seems like people would make the effort to get there if they are willing to spend the time and money to do so.

relax man. It's being called a warm up tour! the tix will sell out, but if you are on the line the second they go on sale you can get them. it will take twenty minutes to sell out. that is plenty of time.

I think it's quite likely that they will tour the US after Coachella and hopefully for all of you easterners they will get over there from California too before jetting to Europe. I wouldn't be too worried yet. And I can't imagine that they'd pass over Boston.

I feel this guys pain, I think the US fans have a huge chance of getting screwed on this. I understand the reasoning for hitting europe, but that doesn't mean i don't selfishly want them to tour here first. If you don't live in a major market, it's going to be hard as hell to get tickets to a show, some of us don't have time to take of work to stand in a line (although with internet tickets, you don't really have to do that anymore). Really i'm just worried about the whole thing imploding before the band gets back to the US. |

I'm hoping for a year or two of touring possibly a new album so they can come through my general area 3 or 4 times. As long as it comes to minneapolis, milwaukee and chicago(the places i can reasonably get to)so i can see them at least 3 times, hopefully at least all once in these first eleven dates and then again after europe. Any date within 10 hours of here I'm going to so maybe even canada. If i was rich I'd follow them around Europe. Some kind of catholics tour in the middle of all this would be nice, take a six month pixies break or something. Oh my w0000000000000ttttt! |

I really hope they do come back and do more shows here in North America. If they did at least two cities in every region, multiple nights if necessary, then we'd all be able to see them. Eleven shows is not enough. I live in Georgia and something tells me that they are not coming here nor to any neighboring states for those eleven shows.

Does anyone have a link to a site that has these tour dates listed? Please don't yell at me to read threads before posting questions, seeing as I've read through dozens and dozens of threads on the pixies tour, mostly with nothing important in them.

The recent trend has been bands doing several city mini-tours through the eastern part of the US, instead of a tradition, larger 30 or 40 date full tour.
My guesses for the 11 (completely out of thin air):
Boston New York x2 Philly DC Cleveland Chicago
LA San Francisco Vancouver Toronto
Typically the South and Midwest and Texas all get screwed over in these shorter tours. Tnere is a small (<5%) chance Atlanta, or another southern city, may show up instead of Cleveland.

Are these shows going to sell out as fast as the European ones?

I sure hope not.
However there is a good chance for more than one show per city. An 11 city tour does not necessarly mean 11 shows.

My main concern is whether they will do any other SoCal shows besides Coachella. I'm hoping for a multi-night stand in a nice indoor place. I have heard tell of so called "exclusivity contracts" that Goldenvoice likes to have their Coachella headliners to sign, whereby they agree not to play any other area shows within 6 months of the festival...(shudder). But Pixies are an LA band as much as a Boston band (maybe moreso), so for god's sake we deserve 2 (or 3!) nights at, I don't know, the El Rey or someplace. Hope they don't play the Wiltern - the sound is HORRIBLE there.
You know, even though they've indicated a strict May-July lifespan up front, these things have a way of dragging out (not that I WANT it to)...and there will always be more offers for them to play.

Shit,I wish they'd do less shows so Frank can get back to going solo. Most of the people who are going to get tickets for this reunion either have big bucks or know someone on the inside. It's disgusting, but it also means Frank will have mucho bucks to fund his solo albums. If you have to whore yourself to make a living as a real artist, this isn't a bad way to do it.

Well, now that the US dates were announced I'm kind of bummed out. I wouldnt have minded only 11 dates if they had been distributed evenly but they're going to skip the East Coast Entirely so ... everyone here is screwed unless they're rich enough to afford plane tickets and concert tickets.
I read from some other place that Frank Black had said that they definetely are NOT going to tour the East Coast before heading out overseas and when asked if this is just one quick renunion tour or the beggining of something big he said he doenst know.
..so they might disband again after this and leave all of the East Coast out of the picture. This would anger my bunghole greatly.

I think you're probably confusing the "no east coast" on the warm up tour with the whole reunion. I hope so for your east coasters' sake.

Harumph,
Though Saskatoon is easily the most badass place name anywhere, it sucks a donkey that Boston didn't get the first date.....
