Come on! I'm getting edgy now! I don't want to go to work later then come back tonight and find a UK tour has been announced and all sold out, as I was at work! I want some announcements!! I want to know what festivals to go to! I want to know if I have to die in Brixton or if I can wait for a Manchester date!! Arrghhh! :)

Was reading the "Daily Record" today at work, one of Scotlands lame tabloids as well as the Sun, and it claims that the Pixies are playing T in the Park this year. The organiser was quoted as saying he was very happy with this. Went on to say they would be playing the same night as David Bowie, though i cant remember if it said theyd be on before or after Bowie on the main stage, probably before. And to all the people shouting "sell-out" wasnt it the same back in 92 while supporting U2, did they not sell out then? I dunno, i just think its a bit naive of people to jump on the bandwagon of bands and artists claiming they are betraying fans. Sure, fans are important, but we dont owe the band...and besides, i dont think there is a collective use of fans. The fanbase for the pixies and frank black are relatively speaking small...from when they started out their fanbase has been growing and growing. It's a bit of a case of "high culture", like upper class people going to the theatre, as a means of showing their class and shunning their so called people lesser than them. This works the same way with the Pixies and Frank Black especially. To support a band like the Chilli Peppers or Bowie...theres no shame in that. People are acting as if the Pixies are the biggest band in the world and deserve the same treatment. As a fan id like to think that way, but as a realist they havent played for 12 years or so...and their solo careers though amazing havent set the media world alight. The Chillis and Bowie on the other hand, though i dont like to admit it with the Chillis as I prefer their older stuff far much more to their newer stuff, and believe personally the Pixies were better than them, have been around the last 12 years in some form and have re-invented their style and used their previous image and repuatation to bring in a new fan base. it's irrelevant these days whether i agree or not with the "politically correctness" or fairness of the system, its all a game, everyone is forced to play whether they like it or not. |

Fuck.... I am on the verge of quitting this forum for a while as I cannot stand this 'I'm gonna see the Pixies' shit. Fairplay to you all I am glad for you but it is not pleasant seeing as I am 90% certain now that I will not make it to any of the gigs.... any other time but now I would have come back for it but due my my wedding ceremony in August I really cannot afford it.
Man I am fucking gutted..... I just hope on 10 or so years time they'll decide to tour again!

I cannot believe it because I really don't like RHC very much.... Bowie on the other hand is different.

The thought of the Pixies and Bowie on the same bill is incredible. Ah well, we're playing a few of each at school's rock concert in a fortnight. That's the closest I'll be getting for a while!

my hope is that they release the UK dates early enough so that the news of their reunion has not had time to become epidemic proportions, so we'll have oodles of time to purchase our tickets. cause there would be nothing worse than missing out on tickets to some nu' metal-loving punk! grrrrrrrr!!!!!

Does anyone have any idea when the UK dates are going to be announced??? I got my tickets for Phoenix Park in Dublin but I cant stand the Chilli Peppers and they'll probably only get a half hour slot. I'm desperate to get tickets for Brixton or somewhere else that they are headlining!!!! I'd do anything!!!! |

hey ppl, calm down.
firstly this very fine site will give you all the info you need *when its available* :-)
but secondly, just by saying you're desperate to see them doesnt make an ounce of difference, I'm sure loads of us are - so don't go making out you're special or owt.

A potential bit of luck.... I have a good friend whose an ex lawyer and is loaded who has offered to lend me alot of money to set up an offshore bank account..... he also told me that I was crazy to not go to LA as I love the Pixies so much, so I might ask him to lend me the cash for the flight, and I'll pay him back after my wedding ceremony in August.... I'm clinging onto a hope here!

i'm hoping for Newcastle arena too...though with the other kind of dates that seem to be bandied around (festivals and with the RHCP) then it'll probably be unlikely

NOOOOO! NOT RHCP's!!!!! Please god no?!?! If they're touring why the heck do they need to support anyone? That will really suck. There's no way on earth I want to see them on a support slot, especially to RHCP's. Going to try and make the festivals though. Never been to T in the Park, so that one looks good! Glastonbury for the 2nd time, the girlfriend wanted to go again this year anyway, and erm, V, well, we could go for just the day... :)

If they dont fucking tell us something soon i'll fucking kill myself. If i missed out on tickets i think suicide would definitely be on the cards.
How about this for a plan, this site emails all us mofos everytime they announce a date and then we all wont be panicking like the pathetic little fucks that we are.

My god! That is genius! That should happen! and like, text alerts too! We should start like a phone ring, where when one uk person hears bout it, they ring some one else, and that person rings the next person on the list...and so on and so on. Or like we all get emailed one persons number, and we call that person when one person rings us..or something. Like one of the mods could call one of us asap, and start it all off? People dont wanna go to work because of these damn dates not being confirmed. I think this is a great idea, and give us all a fighting chance of getting tickets.
That will probably never happen, but would be really fucking cool if it did, I would be able to calm down and concentrate on some work or some thing.
So. Whos up for doing this?!!?I can understand ome people prob dont wanna give out their numbers or what ever...but those that do? I guess a lot of people sort of know many a person on here anyway, and so wouldnt be to worried about giving out a number? What you reckon?
