One night I per chanced upon one of the "hippest" cats around, and our conversation flowed as follows:
(Int. Hot Chicks House - Party)
(Damien, a tall, gangly, curly-haired mofo of 22 years stands holding a cup of beer at a party, perhaps slightly out of place but getting along anyway. A shorter, hipper looking cat sporting a modest mouse shirt comes up to Damien)
Anonymous Hipster: Hey man. Are you Italian?
Damien: Huh? No, man. Mostly Irish. Bit of Swiss, bit of German... and British. I'm told I look Italian a lot, though.
Anonymous Hipster: Aw, I coulda sworn you were Italian. (Without a beat, he riggidly segues into) What music do you listen to?
(Damien, a man with eclectic tastes but never wanting to say "I listen to everything" decides to go with his latest favorites)
Damien: Um, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr.
A.H.: Aw, then you might like the music I like cuz they're supposed to be into the Pixies. Badly Drawn Boy, Radiohead... I listen to music that most people don't listen to.
Damien: I know Radiohead but not Badly Drawn Boy.
A.H.: Oh, you gotta check them out! Yup, I listen to music that not a lot of people listen to.
Damien: Yeah, I've got all of Radiohead except Amnesiac.
A.H.: Oh, you gotta get it! (turns to nearby girl) He doesn't have Amnesiac.
Girl: Oh, you should get it!
Damien: Eh...
A.H.: Yeah, I listen to music that is rather unknown.
(Fantasy sequence in Damien's head: Damien strangles anonymous hipster)

I think your play is a hit TarTar. It sounds like the general consensus is that it's very true to life

I enjoy them quite a bit (their rock stuff anyway, not so much their electronica stuff) but people DO act like rock music starts and ends with them and that pisses me off so much!

Yeah...The Bends kicks ass. Their newer stuff is alright, but I like their rocking stuff a lot more. Yeah..it's annoying. Radiohead lacks the intensity and genius of the Pixies, the raw emotion of Nirvana (Just listen to In Utero; Amazing stuff.), and for some reason I don't find them to be too dark at all. I love dark music. The Cure's Pornography is a great example of sombre music. I've recently gotten into LeadBelly...my god he is great. Amazing, absolutely amazing.

I really hate that complaining/crying voice Thom York has. I think that Radiohead is really overrated.

Hahaha, my dad was listening to them one time and asked me, "Does he try to sing like that? It almost sounds like he's trying to sing in that horrible whiney voice..."

it's funny that you mention the Bends since that's the album in my car CD player right now. That CD makes it back into my stereo at least once a month. Brilliant stuff.

That's right! I should have remebered that! I used to be addicted to The Who when I was a young lad. This crack addiction I've since picked up, must be affecting my memory.

DAMMIT...I try to run, but I can't hide.
This skeeball addiction...I can't help it.
The rolling sound, the lights, the tickets spitting out....
The BIG WOODEN BALLS.
I was told never to return to that house of mouse, that ro-den-of sin-t.
It keeps pulling me back in. |

Yeah, you could do that method acting thing. Read Spin, Rolling Stones, etc., see what non-radio bands are getting mad attention, listen to a bunch of that, drink the right kind of coffee at the right kinda place, intentionally mess up your hair just right, etc.
