Another person who died today is Ann Miller - she was a fabulous dancer and in many movies in the 40's and 50's with Fred Astaire, etc (if you don't know). It just seems sad because this whole era of golden age movie stars are dying out (Gregory Peck, Katherine Hepburn, etc) and somehow it seems like no one today will ever compare.

I feel the same way. The movies back then were clean-cut. Bad things happened in the movies but most of it was left to the imagination. I can let my kids watch those movies without having to worry about what they will see or hear. My kids love Arsenic and Old Lace, It's a Mad,mad World, and other oldies without needing bathroom humor to make it funny. Give me a good Hitchcock thriller and I'm happy.

Isn't Ann Miller the landlord lady in Mulholland Drive?

She did indeed. She has a great number in Easter Parade - and the outfits in the movie are crazy.

OH MY GOD??! She died! How when??!

I love Ann Miller. God this sucks.

I miss all those stars, in a time when movie stars and celebrities were REAL stars, because they were talented and had such decorum.

I love Gene Kelly, The most amazing and sexy man ever to live. *sighs*

Oh, and Cary Grant was my favorite - but I love Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire too. And Marilyn Monroe (although she is from a later era) was so beautiful, I feel like I get hypnotized when I look at pictures of her.

Its possible that Cary Grant is the coolest man ever to live.
At least Tony Curtis is still around.

I always thought that Grace Kelly was stunning. Rear Window, Dial M for Murder.

Tony Curtis is a little bit of a parody of himself, IMHO. He's so over the top. But I guess that is what that era was all about in a way.

Rita Hayworth is also a favorite. Rent GILDA if you love old movies! She's so beooootiful.

Also think Carole Lombard was lovely - when she died (in a plane crash on her way to visit the troops) Clark Gable (her husband) hiked up the mountain to try and find her. So sad!
