This post has no point other than to relate the dream I had about a week ago. It was one of the most vivid, scary dreams I have ever had. I woke up and I was glad to still be alive.
In the dream, I lived with my wife (not so unrealistic there) in an apartment that didn't really resemble anywhere I'd ever lived at before in my entire life. This guy that lived upstairs (in real life I work with the guy) decided that he wanted to have a huge party in his apartment, and all of these people started congregating in our back yard. His back porch was above our back porch; I guess his party got so crowded that people just started overflowing into our back yard. Everone was standing around drinking beer, smoking weed and talking. I was getting ready to go to work (not unrealistic there, either) getting into my work clothes and the like. I went upstairs to tell the guy (his name is Russel) that I was about to leave, and he would have to confine his party to upstairs. I went back down to my apartment and continued getting ready.
All of a sudden these two guys jumped down from Russel's porch above my apartment. They kind of looked like the twins in COBRA from G.I. JOE. (I can't remember their names right now.) It was a good 12 feet or so; they jumped down very athletically. They immediately demanded beer. Now, usually I have at least a couple in the fridge, but on this particular occasion I didn't feel like giving either of them any. I refused, and one of them punched me square in the face. The other one blew some kind of dust from his hand in my face, and it turned out to be some sort of inebriating drug. Immediately I got fucked up beyond belief. I staggered out the door, intending to go on to work even as messed up as I was. I went out into the neighborhood, and saw that Russel's party had grown to where cars were parked all up and down the street, and people were just standing outside smoking and drinking and the like. Even though I was too fucked up to drive, I staggered towards my car.
Right as I was about to get in, I looked off into the horizon. There was a sudden flash of light that enveloped everyone. The light faded in about the span of a single second, but everyone knew what it was and several people began to scream. We all looked off into the horizon where a mushroom cloud appeared only a few miles away. I jumped into my car, and as I started it up I could hear everyone else doing the same thing. I whirled around, knowing that the blast was going to envelop us all in a few seconds but still screeching off anyway. I could hear all of these people behind me driving also, and I knew that it was about to become a madhouse of hundreds of people all desperately trying to escape through a bottleneck road of only two lanes. I know the dream sounds funny, but I swear it scared the holy living crap out of me when I was actually dreaming it. I knew I was about to die; about to be incinerated.
Fortunately I woke up right then, sweating and thinking I was about to die for a few seconds. When I finally woke up all the way I was immensely relieved it hadn't been real. Maybe the reason why this dream has stuck with me so vividly has been because it's not even that impossible -- the town that I used to live in, Oak Ridge, is a pretty high priority target if any enemy of the U.S. decided to nuke us. (And had the audacity and means to do so.) I don't know why I dreamed this; I've never thought that much about nuclear war. That's one of those things that I just can't dwell on that much, or else I'd spend all my days hiding under the bed, like if I thought too much about the all-too-real possibility that I could get mowed down by a bus tomorrow, for example.
Maybe it's a manifestation of my subconcious fear. Or maybe it means something completely different, the "nuclear bomb" and every other element in the dream correlating to something else more related to what goes on in my day-to-day life. I've never been a big proponent of the theory that all dreams mean something (some just seem to be wierd shit that your psyche dreams up when you're asleep) but I don't really know.

Last dream I had was a mob of old ladies weilding bats and trying to kill me.

Excellent. Isn't that somewhat realistic, too?

I never thought of it that way. It's totally realistic.

I think there was a war in my dream last night. I think I was on the beach. I have dreams about wars and mass destruction all the time...about ships and being on the water. I don't know, it's weird. I've had dreams about space wars and shit and real life aliens battling us in the atmosphere, with giant visible planets...the moon was like 30 times bigger in the sky. I don't know, very weird. So you got your ass kicked my Tomax and Xamot, how'd that work out for you?

I try not to dream - insomnia helps this... Recently when I dream, I dream about THE worst things I could possibly imagine happening at that time. Im a pessimist. Maybe a secret one. who knows. i dont know.

I remember having a dream where the Moon was gigantic, but it wasn't the end of the world, as far as I can remember. The Sun and Moon were both in the sky at the same time, and the Moon was big enough that you could see mountains on it. It was weird.
I think I did have an end-of-the-world dream once, but it wasn't that scary. All I remember is that it was raining a lot, and my family hid in the garage.
