Oh my god...at last, someone has leaked the studio version of Nirvana's "You Know You're Right." For those of you who don't know this song...I don't know where to begin. This is the last studio recording Nirvana ever did together in January 1994. It has never ever been released, except for the version they played live in October 1993. I received it from a friend who I met in a Nirvana IRC channel many many years ago and I must say, this song is something. You'll only have the effect I have if you've waited this long or loved Nirvana as much...it is amazing. It's a very emotional experience. The ending is kinda weak tho...but

Check out www.nirvanaclub.com for more info.

hah, i enjoy this article, http://launch.yahoo.com/read/news.asp?contentID=210575

it says near the bottom "The song features the trademark Nirvana hard/soft dynamic that has been imitated by countless bands, including the Vines and Puddle Of Mudd." hah! nirvana invented that eh?? oh well they were still awesome and all, but credit should be given where its deserved.

Yeah, I caught that...Nirvana credited it to the Pixies, but were the Pixies really the first to do it? Or make it big?

they definitely didn't invent it, but i think they made it big. or popularized it or whatever. or did it best. i think it goes back as far as the 60s at least.

I be from Nirvanaclub. It has been an interesting few days. At least I don't have to buy Courtney's stupid greatest hits album to get one song anymore.

i heard it on KXLU the other day (here in LA).. and was pretty amazed to hear it. it took me by surprise.

just finished reading the new biography a while back. pretty compelling book.. but depressing too.

if you're looking for something to listen to, KXLU is finally broacasting on the net. it's definitely the best station in LA by far..

as far as songs that have drastic dynamic variations, it probably is impossible to track how far it goes but I'd say there are a few classical numbers that fall into that category... like, um... all of them. As for rock, The Who did it in "Behind Blue Eyes", for example and that was 1971 or so. In the Oddballs notes FB says he's "trying to be Daltrey" on "Announcement", so maybe that's partially where he gets it from. Just a theory.

Heard the song the other day, WLIR long island, and it didn't knock me off my feet. Maybe it's because I was only a fairweather Nirvana fan, I bought Trompe le Monde when it was released then probably a year later I gave Nevermind a chance. Funny thing is after they played the song the DJ said something to the effect that in the next 3 years their record label will release 3 different best of/ box set/ dvd. Basicaly milking the buying public each year for NEW OLD stuff.

Is it just me, but hasn't 4AD done that every other year. Another thing Nirvana will get the credit for. ;)

as for the soft loud thing.. yeah, i'm sure it goes back even further than this but if you listen to the Nugget's Volume II boxset there are some insane tracks on there.
things by bands like Wimple Wish, The Creation, The Ugly Ducklings and Les Fleur De Lys. .

one of the best boxsets i've ever seen..
