I always cry when I watch this movie. It comes on TV every now and then, like this weekend on Bravo. It's fairly cheesy and written and directed rather sucky, but it always makes me cry. I guess it's just the thought of Valen's death and the other 2 guys.
Am I the only one who wants this movie to be remade rated "R"?
I am always wanting more from this movie, like I want to know the fucking truth. I want it to be more realistic and less hollywood cheesy dramatic soap opera typical shit.
Remake Labamba goddammit. |

I grew up on this movie...it's very depressing. The part I always remember is the end, with the last chords of Sleepwalking (that's the song right?) and his brother yelling "RICHIE!!". I love movies based on musicians from the 50s and 60s. I just watched a bit of the Temptations on VH1 today. Good stuff.

then we'd get the TRUE story. How the crash was a government conspiracy because Ricardo Valenzuela was a Castro sympathizer

I thought it was gonna be about the gratuitous derogatory comments from Conan that question Labamba's sexuality. It is sad. |

I don't want any more remakes. It's getting way past ridiculous.
LBF, in your mind, you perhaps imagine the movie being better for having been remade with an R rating storyline, but I think maybe you are being idealistic. Have you not seen how great movie after great movie has been slaughtered by this process?
The movie effects you and inspires you and gets a fire in your belly - that is more than most movies ever do. I think sometimes cheesiness and imperfections can make a movie even more poignant.

I think John Woo should remake it in the style of the Replacement Killers, until a halfway point in the film at which stage Tom Green should take over.
I looked for a cult to join, then decided to just play "Sink". Hey! I sank WallaWalla Washington! |
