Today's random song of the day is Nadine.

What do you think of it?

lyrics
There goes Nadine
Head to toe in black
There goes Nadine
Head to toe in black
When I see Nadine
I want that

Will she let me in
Underneath her clothes
Will she let me in
Underneath her clothes
That girl got skin
Like a ghost

There goes Nadine
Nadine Nadine
There goes Nadine
Nadine Nadine
There goes Nadine

I think that witchy lady
Is cookin’ up some spell
When she walks on by you know
I love the way she smells

She has a big gray car
She could take me for a ride
She has a big gray car
She could take me for a ride
Maybe we'll park
And I'll drive

I'm not a fan of this one at all. Sounds like it was made up on the spot and I skip past it every time. How it warranted release as a single I'll never know.

I tend to agree with andyn. It's not a bad song but it could have been much better - especially the ending.

I never understood how they choose singles for FB. Do you seriously think Hang on to your ego is the best song of the yellow album. Or You ain't me for COR ?

Nadine fuckin rocks!

It's that early Kinks style that sticks on it what I really like
It really works live too

from frank's press release for show me your tears:

Maybe NADINE is a sexual celebration, but man, I get so sad when I think about her, way back when, ah fuck, whatever happened to me and her?

A big highlight of the show I saw a year ago. Yeah, it's a simple blues and sounds like it was written in 3 minutes, but sometimes that's a good thing and the band rocks it. It stands out next to a lot of the mid to down tempo stuff on the album. I'd a' picked it for the single too, probably.

I like the "when she walks on by you know I love the way she smells" bit.

This would have been a great Cult of Ray single.

It's a cool way to open SMYT. It's also kind of dark and eerie and reminiscient of Pixies in a way. But not as good as "This Old Heartache".

i dont see how anyone could not like NADINE. it kicks ass and puts me in a rock n roll mood. great opener. only wish there were more like these on SMYT. NADINE ranks among FB& C 's top 10 songs. no question. end of discussion.

What the fuck? People don't like this song? People go as far as SKIPPING it? EVIL! This has to be one of the greatest songs in Frank Black's entire career. So much raw energy built up...I can't think of a better way to start off the album. It just builds and builds and builds...the guitar freakout, the screaming, shit, where's my copy of SMYT?

hmhm...i don't like it on the record; if i wouldn't have SMYT on LP, i would even skip it (but it's also easy to skip on vinyl, since it is the first song!).
however, it made a fantastic concert opener when i saw them live.
