did any of you guys see that? it was in 1991. the pixies played on 120 minutes, on mtv. kim wouldn't even stand next to black frances. instead she stood over by dave on the drums. it looked really tense.

what was more funny to me at the time was how they mercilessly mocked wanker host Dave Kendall

I remember back in the day, Dave Kendall made some remarks about Pixies videos, something to the effect of them being the worst videos, and Black Francis wigged, slagging Kendall in every interview...

I missed that but it's no surprise. I just remember people who watched the show hated him and many of the cooler guests on the show did also.

A few years ago, a friend met They Might Be Giants and their sound guy after a show;apparantly, the sound guy was an engineer on Bossanova, or the Bossanova tour or something...but he confirmed to my pal that Deal and Black were not on friendly terms! Speaking of 'Giants, I'm not a fan, but they have a few good songs...I have 'Don't Let's Start' on vinyl 7". They're a little irritating...I know Black's a fan/friend of theirs. I believe they got their name from an old movie.

Yeah, it's from an old movie. The singing can grate on the nerves after a while, but it's not to be taken seriously anyway. That clock radio thing is really nifty too, otherwise I probably wouldn't listen too much. They have a song called AKA driver which I think is a bit pixie-ish.

My dad's girlfriends ex did some sound work for Talking Heads once, supposedly he has a reel of them, and I'd kill for it. Or pay a decent sum of money. pretty off topic here...

TMBG is my favorite band, although I guess I could see someone finding the Johns' voices irritating. I like their voices, but that's just me. For that matter, I like David Byrne's voice, too. I'm not sure what MangyKid meant by "not to be taken seriously"; did you mean TMBG's vocals, or their songs in general?

They're definitely more well-known in the States, but I believe they've only made the pop charts in the United Kingdom (with "Birdhouse In Your Soul" and "Boss Of Me").

Yeah, definetly with 'Birdhouse'...'Boss', maybe too, because of the polpularity of M.I.T.M.
