i still keep reading articles on a pixies reunion. dont get me wrong, id be nice to see i admit. i saw them a few times between 88-89 but come on, the speculations get tiresome and im only 28. what id love more than a pixies reunion is the pushy people just leaving alone fb,kd,js,and dl. who cares if they never reunite for a tour, they still left us all with something that will never be duplicated. |

How about asking Frank to stop feeding the media with ambiguous answers to their Pixies reunion questions. I know I won't. Let him do what he want's to do it's his engine. It seems as though he is on the road to reforming, but keeping it on the down low just in case it doesn't pan out. That's my take.
edit for Beatles sake Rubber Soul is also up there with Revolver smacking Sgt Pepper in the nuts.

Maybe there's been some agreement made that the reunion is only to be announced at a certain time. There are probably several formalities that have to be satisfied before they make an announcement (the "waiting for the ink to dry"). It's a big deal. They know lots of people are wanting for the straight dope. If nothing concrete is being said at this point, it's for a good reason.

Pixies reunion? Leave FB alone.....
are you suggesting a pixies reunion without FB?
Could work I guess: Gigantic, Into the White, I've Been Waiting For You by Kim and La La Love You and Make Believe by David
Would be a great setlist! Who is up for it?

The joke is on a tangent now, but nothing compares to Tomorrow Never Knows, especially if you know the story of how it was recorded.

The subject of this thread confuses me. Isn't it Frank himself who is keeping hope alive? I don't think people would just be crazy with "Pixies reunion, PIXIES REUNION!" unless they were getting some kind of encouragement from somewhere else. Anyway...

I agree with Woozy. Leave Frank the hell alone. The Pixies were great, but they are past history now.Frank has been putting out awsome music, evolving and burning his own path.Right on, Frank!!! I do believe Frank enjoys toying with us though... |

Leave him alone? There is no Pixies without Frank - and if they decide to reunite then he will be one of the people making that decision.
What is the argument? That WE are harrassing Frank for a reunion? I know some people are (and do so at live shows, etc) - but if Frank takes a look at the forum he will see there are people happy to let the Pixies remain in the past. Viva the Catholics!
This all perplexes me but maybe I am just missing something here.

The fact that we are all happy with the Catholics has something to do with the fact this is a website dedicated to FB.
On live shows, people are really hysterical when he sings "Where is my mind", the Pixies have a much larger audience. Personally, I really get bothered because I really love Frank's solo work, and I think the Pixies were just one period in his artistic career. There is a difference between people who understood Frank after Trompe le Monde, and those who didn't.
But you know, if he can get money from a reunion, enough to be able to keep his artistic integrity, then why not? I would do it for money. There's nothing to be ashamed of. I remember that for quite a long time, FB refused to play Pixies songs live, and now he does. It certainly brings more people to the shows. So what? |

I still think the Pixies are a way better band than the catholics. The arrangements are just far more powerfull and fitting to FB -or is it BF again now?- songs. Maybe Frank has regained interest in that Pixie sound and those old Pixie songs. |

I'm not sure if the Pixies are a better band than FB&C but I firmly believe that the Pixies body of work is stronger than anything FB did post Pixies. I can honestly discern no weakness in any of the Pixies albums. I can't say the same for FB&C.
Saying that, I still rate FB&C very highly in relation to their contempories.
A new Pixies album would be very interesting indeed.

I just wish that Frank would speak and either dispell or confirm the rumours. If there is a Pixies reunion then it is coming at a bad time for me, seeing as I live out here and have a wedding to pay for in the near future. Still, if they reform I'll travel back home to see them as they are possibly the band I most want to see ever!
Who's the man that won't cop out when there's danger all about? |

I guess I agree with most everything you said - my confusion is just with this TOPIC - the whole "leave Frank alone" aspect. Cause, um, what? It makes no sense to me. If he didn't want to reunite, he wouldn't. Simple as that (in my mind) - he doesn't seem to ever do something just because people push him to or want him to, and that is one reason he's so awesome.
Obviously it seems like the Pixies are going to do some shows - and whatever. I don't care really - if they come to Boston, I am sure I will go and see them - but I would be way more excited about the Catholics touring. To me the music he is making with them is just more mature, more grown up, and more interesting. I think the Pixies WERE great, but going backwards just seems...sad. It's the EVOLUTION OF CHARLES THOMPSON as an artist that I dig. So all of that said, whatever he chooses to do - I will get behind that. I just want the voice to be heard that some of us are fans of the current stuff over the Pixies - that we are at shows screaming the loudest for the news songs and not Caribou or Where Is My Mind.
That there are some of us who prefer the future to the past. |

Yes, The Pixies are a part of Franks evolution. His solo work is outstanding. Good point about doing it for the money, as long as Frank feels it won't compromise his integrity. We all know that money is the bottom line |

If money was the bottom line for Frank wouldn't he have done a reunion show years ago? Or wouldn't he have just stayed with the Pixies forever - they could have toured Europe for years and made loads of money.
I am not naive enough to think it's not about money to some degree but to say it is ONLY about money is incredibly depressing. If that's the case, I would like to know where to return my FB fan badge.
Feh.
