Today's random song of the day is This Old Heartache.
What do you think of it?
lyrics You can hypnotize me later And we´ll sail into the heavens And our love will be the leaven As we dance among the craters But if I should leave this state There is nothing you can do My dear you cannot soothe This old heartache
So let´s go to Barcelona We will be noted for our absence Deep in ocean blues of absinthe Making love in our coronas
But please know for your own sake (That) I can be a moody guy For years I cannot quiet This old heartache

Martin's recording from Amsterdam?? We should talk... :)
I love this song too, such a different far eastern feel from a western west-coast chap. Great piano, whoever it was that transcribed this for piano, I am in your debt. Someday I will sit down and learn it completely.
BTW, rhyming absence with absinthe... mmoi!

Great song. Sounds very much like Tom Waits' 80s recordings. |

I don't like this song very much, as compared to the others from SMYT. The melody is not THAT good, as compared to the bright simplicity of "Goodbye Lorraine" or "When will happiness find me again".

sorry dean, i don't have any way of copying anything at present. i dunno if martin is still trading it, but i know he's still got a spare of his 26/11 recording, which isn't quite as good, and does not include this old heartache.

That's OK. I'll just wait for them to come to Saskatoon again this May, I guess...

THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME.
Well, I do love many other songs, but I love this song and to simply say "I Love This Song" just doesn't do justice. It's great to sing when I'm alone. The most original and abstract song on smyt.....absolutely beautiful. It's a weird song. Definitely the best on SMYT. Wow. I think I'll listen to it today. Song Oracle has selected yet another song that I have very deep emotions for. This isn't a song of the day where I think about the song and say "let's see: what can I say about this". This is a song that I think of frequently and have so many things that I could say because I love it. Awesome. So let's go to Barcelona. |

I really like this song. The melody is great. What is that in the background at the end? Is it someone screaming or some kind of weird percussion or something

I have a theory the end was supposed to be a fade from the begining of the line of You can hypnotisme me later at the end of the song The very weird howl of Dave and the out of time playing confirms did
just some thought
