I recently noticed this 8 CD Time-Life Music compilation in my dad's CD collection. It is called the "Folk Years" and it has a bunch of ... well, folk songs. I've been going thru them finding my favorite songs and I'm making a double mix CD of 42 songs off it.

Anyway, there are alot of good songs on my mix (the Byrds, The Lovin' Spoonful, Roger Miller's 'King of the Road', Johnny Cash, etc.) Now, The Kingston Trio has alot of songs on the compilation but I found myself disliking them alot and I put none of them on my mix CD. I dunno, some of their songs really pissed me off and I couldn't enjoy them. Anyone else this way? Even "Where Have all the Flowers Gone?" was annoying because I heard Pete Seeger's version and it was much better than their version.

I think I can't stand the Kingston Trio.

I think it may be the akward vocals. The Byrds rock, though...My dad has tons of cds too...over 800..plus tons of LPs I've been listening to (mmm...Quicksilver Messenger Service). Ah...I love oldies...

Have you watched "A Mighty Wind" yet, Derek? if not, I really think you would enjoy it (laugh up a vital organ) at this juncture.

I put the Beach Boys version of Sloop John B on my mix.

I need to see A Mighty Wind. I remember seeing the previews and thinking it looked funny.
