Yes I'm calling you out...
I'm Listening to it right now...the guitar-work is better than anything since (except FB&C self-titled).
Go listen to it again, lyle's guitar is great. (And so is the album.)

I like Cult of Ray, but I think it is mostly because it was the first Frank I got so I love it like my first born. So you don't have to convert me, but good luck with these other snobs.  |

I'm with floop on this one. I love punk, and I love CoR, but I don't know if the twain meet. I won't lose any sleep over it though.

sorry, apl. just kiddin' around. yeah, apparantly i deleted my post before you replied. i didn't think my opinions on corona vs. tecate were adding much to the conversation, so i deleted my post. and yes, i was trying to make you look like a deluded crazy person. but i'm coming clean now. i did actually post something earlier.. apl4eris is not delusional. just for the record..
now that we've cleared that up. yes, corona is way better than tecate. |

1st frank black solo album ever heard by me: COR
1st Show I attended and most recent album released during tour: COR
COR is just as good as any other FB CD. I can't rank them. That shit fluckuates...

| By the way, COR is great. I don't really want to get in my theories about why it's one of his best albums, but I will say that "The Adventure and the Resolution" is one of the best instrumental songs ever written and "The Cult of Ray" has some extremely complex chord changes that make the song sound as if Frank put an extreme amount of work into it. But we have so many threads about Cult of Ray. It's insane how the 'underrated' album gets so much attention. |

here's a minor cult of ray story:
i got one of my old co-workers into Frank Black a while ago. he bought Cult of Ray at a used store, and, looking through the sleeve, discovered that it was a signed copy.. it had "FB" in a large sharpie, and he also drew the guy on the front of the cd. being a stand up guy, and understanding my obsession, my co-worker gave it to me; we switched liner notes. pretty cool.
what i want to know is what kind of idiot sells that? |

How nice of your coworker. I got a signed copy of "All My Ghosts" for my husband's b'day, real cheap-like, from www.gemm.com - all's I can say is, whatever kind of idiot it takes to sell something like that, there must be plenty of 'em..................thank goodness!

I got my cult of ray at a used record store in denver...I guess mine is a pre-release or something...it says "FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. SALE OR OTHER TRANSFER IS PROHIBITED. MUST BE RETURNED ON DEMAND OF RECORDING COMPANY." hahaha

Cult of Ray was the third Frank Black solo album I heard. I bought it the week it was released. I like it, but not as much as his first two. Nor do I like it as much as most of the albums he has released since then.
