Would you rather hear Skeleton Man or any of the following songs:

Control - Puddle of Mudd
One Step Closer - Linkin Park
Bodies - Drowning Pool
Hard Knock Life - Jay-Z
Hang Tough - New Kids on the Block
In a Big Country - Big Country
Bug-A-Boo - Desinty's Child
Alive - Pearl Jam
That Girls Who Wear Abercrombie and Fitch song - Whoever sings it

Okay, so I thought of some songs that are REALLY awful, but still, I think everyone must accept that Skeleton Man is not a bad song. I personally don't feel anything Frank has written or recorded needs to be put up against the crappy songs I've mentioned to appreciate the genius of them. I mean, the man has never put out material to appease his audience, he's always written music that he wants to hear, he's never gone into the realm of "is it wrong to critcize a formerly great artist for his latter day sins" like many of the former awesome songwriters have (from Paul McCartney to Stevie Wonder to Alex Chilton). Come on, people, not everything he puts out can be Freedom Rock, Hey, or Hermaphroditos, but that's what makes Frank great. He's unpredictable.

Alcohol or pot? VHS or Beta? Man or Astro-man?

Yeah, I probably shouldn't be in here either. Skeleton Man is a great song. It rocks first off, and secondly, it's the perfect name for a song with that crazy lead. It sounds like a skeleton song. I don't care, I love it.

I love songs like "Big Country" off the album Big Country by the artist Big Country. How pretentious do you hafta be to be able to pull this off? There're a couple of other examples, but I'm having trouble reciting them now. Oh yeah, Bad Company. That's probably the all time greatest. Just ballsy, man. It says, "We're so hopelessly self-involved that we ain't even tryin' to give a fuck."

It always sounds like a Sheryl Crow song. And not just because she needs to gain 6 or 7 hundred pounds.

I don't like your way of thinking. By this logic, I could say:

To all the GWBush haters, would you rather have Bush as your president or:

Hitler
Mousalini (sp?)
Satan

You get the picture...comparing crap with smellier crap doesn't matter when it's all crap anyway. Not to say the song is crap, I just don't like it...it's the weakest song on a top knotch album.

and anything artistic is all based on opinions anyway....I dont think anyone can say for sure one FB song is good and another isn't.....(noticed I limited that statement to FB because there are some musicians out there who release nothign but crap, so picking their best song would be the least of several evils)

Members Only® in the house.

The Swedish Chef was my Halloween costume this year. I wonder if he is offensive to Swedes or chefs.

haha - great idea for a costume, Owen. Too bad we didn't get a pic in realmean's Holloween Costume thread! I hope they [Swedes and chefs] wouldn't be offended, I mean, Swedes supposedly have a harder time understanding him than English speakers do. Anybody out there have first-hand knowledge?

I enjoy FB's sci-fi/fantasy songs. COR may not be the most rockin' album but I enjoy the theme. As with 'perry the wind' and other such songs. Skeleton Man is great, for what it is.

Yes, Skeleton Man is great "for what it is": one of the best goddamn songs he's ever written. Honestly, why the *fuck* are people so uptight about this song? Easily better than Western Star or Billy Radcliffe, the two songs that are usually lauded from Pistolero; best song on the album, hands down. And the live version with the pedal steel and extended intro? Smokin'.

Thank you Brackish Boy! Is he quoting from Hamlet, by any chance? The part right after "To be or not to be?"....

"Øder tis moodle in der noggin tu smacken der ouchey und vinger-slingers ur to smacken-backen und fix de morkin, yøobetcha!"

"Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and, by opposing, end them...." (or "fix the dang-blasted mess, you betcha!")

I like big Country, i LOVE PJ - Alive, but I also love Skelly Man. Skeleton Man is the song that turned my Dad onto Frank, now he loves Skeleton Man and Bad Harmony and Western Star. He's only on Pistolero now, I will give him another Frank CD when the time is right.

Speaking of turning people on to Frank, I remember a couple of weeks ago I was completely watsed and takinga cab home from this bar. I sat in the front and was making the best of friends with the driver. So anyways, they had a cd player in the car so I popped in the x-files(Songs in the key of X) which has Man of steel on it... Great great song. So the cab driver loved it and I gave him my CD. Drunken generosity. Gotta love it.

And now, your moment of zen...
