...is on TV tonight. I love (love love!) this sappy movie. And I had to tell y'all cause I think we can all use some holiday spirit. Anyone else enjoy this movie as much as me? Don't come in here and say you hate it - I will have to beat you up!
On that note, Happy Holidays!

Oh, I always cry. Usually when Harry comes in. And always when he reads the note from Clarence. *SOB!* |

I think that for the opening credits, a camera films a piece of paper on which the credits are hand-written. How awesome is that? Good film. |

Have to agree that this is a GREAT movie. Alfalfa takes a dip in the pool beneath the gym floor. "No man is a failure who has friends." (Or something like that...)

It's a Wonderful Life-sappy? No way! Also one of my favorites, BTW. I watch several times a year, both for the trite but true message and also for the comedy. There's some very dark and funny scenes, esp.when George and Clarence first meet.
More IAWL trivia: Sesame Street stars Bert & Ernie are named after the cop & taxi driver friends of George.

Charlie Brown Christmas is better. But I'll tell you, no Christmas movie is better than A Christmas Story. Best Christmas movie ever and one of the best movies ever made.

Yeah, my mom and I always crack up when we watch it and hear George yell, "Bert! Ernie!"
As for Charlie Brown Christmas VS It's A Wonderful Life - I guess I am lucky. CBC was on about a week ago here.
Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown! |

Charlie Brown is classic. I also like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. All the ones I grew up on basically.
I had never seen It's a Wonderful Life until 2 years ago. Great movie.

Does anyone remember that Christmas show (I think) from Jim Henson about Emmet Otter and his jug band?? Wasn't that a Christmas thing? I am trying to think of other obscure ones that haven't been on in awhile. I watched Rudolph with my friend's son the other night and I was kinda bored. I do enjoy the "no one likes a skinny Santa!" line though. It's big in our family. Of nerds.
The Grinch is fabulous - and now on DVD. How modern! "His heart is filled with unwashed sucks...he's got garlic in his soul". Or something like that. |

I've recorded two xmas songs..scroll to the bottom of these two pages to hear my feelings on this time of the year:
"It's Christmas" - http://www.thenoisies.com/tunes/suar.asp
"X Marks the Mess" - http://www.thenoisies.com/tunes/tffo.asp
=)
Maybe i'll record another this year..tho so far i haven't noticed that it's getting to be 'that time of the year'. Tho i've been cooped here as well..and know better than to go out. |

Did you guys know Frank Black had a Christmas song "Wonderful Life"?
Now Santa as you'd expect He was all dressed up in red Presents in kids stockings And a cap upon his head The sleigh ride of the reindeer With Rudolph leading, of course The elfs singing 'bout Nick's imminent fat torso
It's a wonderful life, No it's a horrible life, You can see there by his belly he don't give a fuck It's a wonderful life, No it's a horrible life, And for the first time in his life the sleigh got stuck.

We could do a whole Christmas album. Derek, I'll let you write the lyrics. That was gold.

This could be the cover for the FB Christmas parody. That background image I got off google is probably subject to copyright though.

"It's A Wonderful Life" is one of my top 2 movies. And I cry at the end every time (if I'm alone). I'm a sensitive man, but not that sensitive. |

I think it was called Emmit Otter's Jug Band Christmas. We just got the Muppet Family Christmas DVD. It's really very good. It's from the mid-80s I think and has the Muppets, Sesame Street gang, and Fraggle Rock. The Swedish chef wants to cook Big Bird for the dinner. |

May I suggest that you use a different font? There is this font called 'trekker regular' that looks much like font used on The Cult of Ray. You can download it here: http://www.ussmatrix.org/archive/fonts.html Oh, and by the way, I love A Christmas Story. |

A Christmas story is great. I always watch it like 10 times on Christmas eve when they do the 24 hour marathon on TNT. But Wonderful Life is really good too. Oh and great song and CD cover Derek!

Didn't I make a note that this is the font they used for SMYT? I swear I did at some point...that's how we got the LOG OUT button. Yeah, that's right!
Yes, I love the 24 hours of A Christmas Story...I watch it several times till my family pretty much yells at me. I grew up on this movie and have seen it so many times. I probably love it much more than normal because I wish I grew up in the 50s and 60s.

I'm too drunk to read all the replies, but I hope that everyone agrees it's an awesome movie. My father bought the colorized version of the film, and I cannot bring myself to watch it. He asked if I wanted to borrow it to watch this year since I don't have cable (which we all know would air It's A Wonderful Life nonstop) and I said, "No! Not the colorized version!" He said, "You're such a purist!" and I said, "Damn right!" I don't think there's a bad scene in the entire film. Every time I'm going to Lansing and I drive by Pottersville, I can only think of Potterville from the alternate reality scene. Or is it the other way around? I drive by Potterville and can only think of Pottersville? I'm so drunk right now.
