Hi all...
This is my first post here on the board. Just recently 'discovering' Frank Blacks solo career, despite being alongtime Pixies and Breeders fan.
I've got a few FB records, and I was wondering which one I should check out next? Here's what I have, ranked from favorite to least favorite:
Teenager Of The Year Show Me Your Tears Dog In The Sand Frank Black Devils Workshop
Also, I saw that someone had mentioned a Frank Black FTP. How does one get access to it? I'd really like to check out some live stuff, or b-sides as it were.
Looking forward to meeting you all. Thanks!
Marc

Frank Black And The Catholics should be your next stop. Its a side of his music you have yet to hear.
Go to the ftp part of the forum I think it explains all in there. |

I would try the FB and TC's self titled CD if you liked TOTY and SMYT best. But that's just me.
Someone is going to move this to General Chat - but welcome to the board anyway! Hope you enjoy yur stay. |

No problems, it's chatting about your next FB album, I say that qualifies as FB Chat.
Welcome aboard.

I would say either Black Letter Days to see a flipside to Devil's Workshop, or FB&TC's as a general moment of rock.

Agree - Black Letter Days given the order of your list, but Devil's Workshop is a grower - if you find after a while that Devil's Workshop is creeping up your list, it's time to try FB&TCs (self-titled) or Pistolero

I guess in that case, it's going to be either BLD or FB&TC's. depending on which I happen upon first.
Thanks for the help, everyone.

marc, don't forget about Pistolero. but I'd say FB&C self titled is the next one i'd buy. I think it is more complete than BLD.
FB&C self titled has a great opener and closer. BLD, well, it has THE SAME opener as it does closer. |

I've been big into Cult Of Ray these days, LBF. It's so simple, plus one can sing along really loud with it. And almost all the songs are great little stories. But I'd go searching for FB&Cs self titled, cause it's diggety dank, yo. |

Incidentally, for the FTP, you'll want to check out the FTP section of the forum for details about logging in etc.

By now you probably realize you're safe with anything. I'd go with Black Letter Days, FB & the Catholics self-titled, Pistolero, or as many as you have time to listen too. I found it extremely satisfying & un-expectally easy to get into two or three of Frank's albums at once. Of course it doesn't hurt being able to listen to them at work..., But if you have the time... |
