apparently during the gigantic ep sessions they also recorded hcym. now that would be good to hear...
excerpt: "The Pixies, meanwhile, had also released their second album, the epochal Surfer Rosa (CAD 803), produced for maximum raw sonic impact by Big Black's Steve Albini and recorded in a mere 13 days. Later that spring, the band entered the studio with Gil Norton to re-record two Surfer Rosa songs for an EP--"Gigantic" (the first song to spotlight the talents of Kim Deal) and "River Euphrates." Also recorded during these sessions was a version of "Here Comes Your Man" which remains unreleased. The two studio tracks were coupled with live versions of "Vamos" and "In Heaven" (from David Lynch's film Eraserhead ) and issued as the Gigantic EP (BAD 805)."

aha, strange!
I'm not sure that version is worth it though, there's a version with Gil Norton production on doolitle and the pixies (cooking vinyl)-version wasn't that much of a shock. I would say leave it unreleased but I have to say that I haven't heard this before

but the 2 released versions of hcym are so different that i wonder which this additional version is closest too.... and anyways, i could quite happily listen to these types of versions of pixies songs for ever and a day. |

heh no worries. I'm not going to sue.
It is very interesting. I like the name 'Axis Records' of how they started, although I think I prefer '4AD'.
I'm wondering if it's entirely accurate, about the HYCM topic. But I'm also wondering why no-one at 4AD has said anything yet. Jo normally replies to most posts there with the facts.

maybe jo hasn't said anything cause they were planning on releasing it in some format somewhere and it was sposed to be a secret and she thinks that if she does not acknowledge the question no-one will notice so it will still be this HUGE suprise when it's released.
it's possible.
ps..thanks for not suing. |
