Penguins. All penguins. They waddle around, they dive off of cliffs, I mean, what's there not to love about them?

There was a bad oil spill, so they had to wear little penguin sweaters. Poor penguins...

Your turn...include pictures if you can, hehe. Animals rock.

Me too on the penguins and beagles and chameleons. It's so hard to choose. I like all animals, but I have a hard time with hyenas for some reason. I also love the Jesus Lizard (Basilisk), which runs on water.

I'm lovin that picture. Cephalopods rock me. So smart. I think they see more dimensions than most. Like cats seem to sometimes. This website is all kinda cephalopod fun:

My 3 favorites

Ants, except when they invade my house. It's just amazing to me that something that can't be terribly smart lives in a complex colony with different jobs and the colony adjusts as the environment changes. How does the colony work when no single brain is directing it?

Crows are cool for how smart they are, how long they live, and the alliances they develop over all those years. Each morning they're outside my house picking up walnuts, flying up in the air, and dropping them trying on the street to try to crack them open. Pretty clever for a bird.

And finally the fish I use to study, the threespine stickleback. The cutest fish in the world. Males get all colored up (red eyes and blue throat) when their ready to mates and some of those sneaking butchers will spend all day trying to rush in and fertilize a female's eggs before the male she has chosen gets a chance. And when they do this they lose their color, develop zebra stripes, and sneak like a snake on the bottom of the lake. They'll do it time after time. Very cute.

Well, I know it's in a class all on it's own, but this particular fungus grabs my vote for most interesting organism. The honey mushroom. The largest organism known on earth:

"The outline of the giant fungus, strikingly similar to a mushroom, stretches 3.5 miles across, and extends an average of three feet into the ground. It covers an area as big as 1,665 football fields. No one has estimated its weight."

I like animals that have symbiotic relationships,

I wish I could remember names but I know there's a type of lizard and bird that both live in crevices on cliffs. Lizard's nocturnal, the bird's not. So during the day the lizard will look after the bird's eggs or birdies while the bird goes looking for food, and the bird watches the lizards youngins when the lizard goes hunting. cool hey.

wow...those mushrooms are gigantic...wow.

And here's another symbiotic relationship. The remora (suckerfish) eats off small shrimp like parasites on the shark, thus cleaning him, and he gets to eat and get a free ride. (not to mention safety.)

Nope, don't you have to urinate on the wound so that it will stop stinging? Because the amonia like...huh...nevermind...I forget.

Well, since you got really drunk...you probably ended up peeing on it unintentionally.

You can also use meat tenderizer, or italian dressing. Seriously. Just don't rinse it off with fresh water. Big mistake, that would be.
One of the funniest things I've seen my mom do, she was standing in the Pamlico Sound in the Outer Banks, wetsuit and snorkel gear on, pouring italian dressing on her leg.

Pika...subalpine mountain inhabitants.

Bushtit...the coolest little birds. Twenty or thirty crawl around my orange tree every day.
