in the study of poetry/English Lit that means, to intentionally mispronounce a word in order to make it fit into a rhyme? For example, "All he thinks about is how he looks like Heroes period Bowie."
That is hilarious. |

I'm not sure about pronouncing it differently, i know the act of writing it is refered to as "slant rhyme" |

I was always under the impression that both pronounciations were correct. But then again what do I know - I'm from Iceland. |

In 'Debra', doesn't Beck rhyme 'baby' and 'Hundai'?
"I said baby.. Step inside my Hundai.."
hahahahhaha..

Well, I've never heard Bowie said any other way than such that would rhyme with "know me," rather than "how he." Oh well, I still say that line is damn funny. And that's one of great things about Frank Black's lyrics. He can be pretty funny ya know. How about the out of the blue "then I stopped in at a porno store." That cracks me up too. |

Will someone please agree with me? Pretty please? Just say you think it's funny even if you don't. Honesty is not an issue here. Validation, that's all I ask! |

Yeah he does that with "mismatch" and "sasquatch." And as far as Bowie is concerned, other than in "Western Star" I have only heard the common "beau-ee" treatment and the "boo-ee," usually when talking about a fixed-blade knife.

For what it's worth, the guy that comes to Pizza Hut to fix the equipment is named David Bowie, and I guess it's pronounced "boo-ee"
