today I remembered that back in the day, pre-Pistolero, "I Switched You" was referred to as "Switch Shoes with You". As far as I can remember (yahoo records don't go back that far) this title was accepted by consensus on the AbstractPlain - meaning it wasn't just me, and anyhow I know I didn't personally come up with the title. Does anybody else remember this?

Uh... There's something wrong here. The AbstractPlain was created after Pistolero was released. Pistolero came out in March 99, and I think the AP began in May; before that we were on some bulletin board, what was its name again?

Wasn't it imusic or something like that? You're right, AP began in May 1999.

Hmmm....maybe it was the imusic board, but are yous certain that's when it was created? And can anyone remember whether it was Egroups, THEN Onelist, or the other way around?

From what I understand, it started on iMusic, then the AP was founded on Onelist, then eGroups, then Yahoo! bought eGroups. The first message I have is Digest 82 from 7/18/1999.

OK, so anyway, back to the subject at hand, I don't wanna look like an idiot (again)... "(don't you know I) Switch Shoes With You" probably started on imusic...I know I first heard the song around 11/98 and I recall there being a webcast around the same time which also featured the song; hence, a reason to be discussing it on the internet prior to its release.
But, go back to messages 1-30 on the yahoo archives - starting 6/19/99. There are messages entitled "Re: Digest 51", which it doesn't give a date for that digest... It looks like 5/99 is pretty close, BUT, I guess the only point I'm trying to make is that Yahoo's AP archives do not document the very beginning of the list.
