| this is a brilliant tune, particularly in a lyrical sense. did you catch it? "her warm white belly, in the life i'd lived, had seen nothing finer. she shakes and she moves me or something, she's like jelly roll like sculpture". absolutely brilliant. frank black, in my opinion, is the greatest abstract poet that has ever lived. |

i was thinking the same thing the first time i read the lyrics to subbacultcha; they're quite brilliantly structured w/ lots of parallels and stuff; hella good.

it has a more punkish feel.less polished production i guess.and the vocals are different.i would say it is "darker" i can't explain it better.

| does subbacultcha mean anything? I've only heard it on other place - in the movie joe and the volcano with - eh - Tom Hanks. Hanks is about to be sacrificed to the mighty god of volcano and some priest screams subbacultcha! Everything ends ok (this was an american movie after all), and he sail away on a scooner. I thinks. But - does it mean anything? |

I CAN'T SPEAK FOR EVERYONE, BUT I CERTAINLY DON'T MIND. BETTER THAT YOU QUOTE KEVIN SMITH'S WORST DIALOGUE (WHICH YOU DIDN'T DO, BY THE WAY) THAN SOME SCREENWRITERS' BEST

WHY NOT INCLUDE ANOTHER WELL-KNOWN BLACK (JACK) AND ANOTHER POPULAR SMITH (ELLIOTT)? THAT WOULD BE A SUBLIME MOVIE, IF YOU ASK ME

the subbacultcha on purple tapes has an extra part in it, which later became d=rt which later became blur's song 2. listen to the riffs... seriously similar.
the only other song imagery wise that approaches this jelly roll/sculpture thing for me is Baby, That's Art.
You all do know that this song is a tribute to the fall, don't you? most fall songs have that "rhymes with ABBA" at the end of everyline whether its in the word or not thing.

Mark E. Smith tends to add "ah" to the end of many things he says. For example, say he were to say, "A particular venom, spewed forth from her face" he would pronounce it, "A particular venom-ah, spewed forth from her face-ah"
