Pitchforkmedia.com has redone their "Best 100 Albums of the 90s", and Frank's output appears 3 times. TOTY at #94, Trompe at #83, and Bossanova at #28. Pavement is in the top ten twice! Unbeleivable. Many artists have two albums in the top 100 (Pavement, Bjork, Guided By Voices, the Breeders, Stereolab, Elliot Smith, Aphex Twin, Brainiac, Bonnie Prince Billy/Palace, etc...), but only Frank has THREE. Rock on. Oh, and OK Computer has unseeded Loveless as best record of the 90s. Shocking!

Yeah...funny how when they did it 4 years ago there was no hip hop on it, but now that hip hop has been accepted into the indie community as "okay" music to listen to the list is 1/3 hip hop. Trendy revisionist anuses |

Techically, the Pixies and FB are different artists (although lets not start some pointless debate here). So he only sort of appears on the list three times. By the same argument, you could say Kim Deal is the only other artist on there thrice if you say the Breeders are up there.

I agree with their points about albums being albums, rather than a collection of songs. Loveless and OK Computer definitely work because they are complete albums, and are all the better for it.

I'd say Frank was at the helm of 3 releases there, while Kim was only the leader of two. Since he wrote the songs, a majority of credit goes to him, I'd say. |
