Check out what apl wrote in another thread tho,
"When I was very young, my favorite color was yellow (I was a very sad child, and needed cheering up), and as I got older, it was orange, which neurologists and other "scientists" have recently said triggers the intellect and stimulates higher/better focused or inspired thinking. So I guess if you have to choose one or the other, you can either be depressed and smart, or happy and stupid. It's a toss-up for me now"
and that should be the end of that. |

Yeah, I read that and laughed. It reminds me of Flower For Algernon. Then I cried.
Don't worry, I was joking too. I don't ALWAYS have to put a smiley face, y'know!
Oh, yeah. :)

See, they call it "mellow yellow", not "yellow soda." There is no "yellow soda" only soda that kinda' looks yellow. Is there a "mellow orange"? No need, they call it "orange soda" and it is attractive as is, no need to dress it up with fancy descriptions like "mellow." There is no "yellow soda."

I think that's because oranges are orange. We don't call lemons yellows right. |

Very good. Very good point. "Hey, will you run upstairs and grab a couple yellows?" Just doesn't work. Lemons are embarrassed that they are yellow. Oranges are proud to be orange, no need to fancy up their name in any context. Oranges are for the fruit and color purist. |

It's orange, dude. You are colorblind. Everything else you've said was yellow was really yellow, but that is not.

i'll give you orangish yellow on this one. with Salma Hayek i don't discriminate.. she could wear orange and i'd still go out with her, maybe.
i assure you i'm not colorblind though, not that there'd be anything wrong with being colorblind. like some people are. |

That poor, poor cute bottle of Orangina...so snug and cozy in it's ice patch...completely unaware of the furor surrounding it...clueless that it itself is an existing whirlwind of confused bewilderment, for I see it's color as yellow, and yet it's name contradicts the content's hue. OH! ORANGINA! I am saddened by your cute conundrum! What was said earlier? To be depressed and smart, or stupid and happy?

that is pretty sad when they call
yellow soda : oringina
and
orange soda : orange soda
doesn't hold up well for yellow. |

i'd say if anything, it points to the larger problem at work here: mass psychosomatic colorblindness.
harvard professor and award-winning optical innovator Arnold Gelb postulated: "most colorblindness is not physical in nature but 100% psychological/cultural." colorblindness, he states, "is often symptomatic of latent homosexuality and deeply repressed racism, which psychoanalyists have come to associate with the fear of yellow." (Gelb, Behind The Yellow Curtain, pg. 198)
as you probably know, yellow was the imperial color of China, worn by it's Emperor and members of his family. during the Korean War, even though Korea had nothing to do with China or it's Emperor, people associated this fear of the other (in this case, the Asian other) with the color yellow.. and it's been embedded in our collective unconscious ever since (hence the derogatory slang term "yellow" often used to describe those of Asian heritage)..
now, when products like Orangina pop up, which is an undeniably yellow liquid but suspiciously named after the color orange, nobody blinks an eye..
in a nutshell, it's passive racism (and latent homosexuality, but that's a whole different discussion)..
don't fear the YELLOW guys. stop hating and start loving.. (even if loving, for you, means an alternative unorthodox sexual practice) |

your mama's a pretty thing - i just want you to know that even though you're spreading hate, and are obviously very confused about your sexuality, you are still loved (by me at least). your fear of yellow is not your fault. but not getting help is:
