If this is just too off-topic or whatever, I apologize. Just remove it please. But it relates to trading in many ways. For one thing, I am willing to trade some green colored papers for an electronic implement, which will be used chiefly as a means to make more recordings of shows, which I will turn around and use as yet more bait for trade.
Anyhowsees, I am looking for a handsome, feature-rich, probably Sharp MD player/recorder. I have been doing a bit of research and am aware of several models and their pros & cons. But I don't much care if it's really old (like 3 or 4 WHOLE years), so long as it works flawlessly. Long play capabiity is a plus, along with 40 sec. shock memory, backlit (or just a) remote, and stuff. Obviously I need a mic input (in case it sounds silly, there are actually quite a few MD "recorders" without this feature!).
Reading over this, I can see how boring and/or annoying it may seem to uninterested parties. Sorry--just ignore it and it will relegate itself down into the mudpots.
If you might have something to offer, just email me by clicking the icon over the message. Wurd to your mother's grandmother's left eyebrain.

I would like to say the same thing but with my name in place of johndietzel's name. I have a decent cassette recorder, but would like very much to upgrade to minidisc or better yet DAT. i don't have much money, but i live in southern california, so i see Frank shows about twice a year.. and anybody helping me out will of course be hooked up with copies of anything i record. =) Also, my friend Behemoth sees Frank a bunch and he's looking for a good recorder too. So if anyone has one to sell, or can point people to trustworthy/cheap stores/sources, please do. |

Well, I think Minidisco.com is reputable and OK price wise. If you're like me and have a very limited (probably sub $100) budget, the unfortunate reality is you need a used one. I am carefully watching eBay. The Sharp MD T15 or something is selling bare for the $65 range. There's also some refurbs through shopping.yahoo.com for pretty good prices. There's a Sharp sr-60 or something for around $80, supposedly like new, etc.
Switchy, I hopefully will send you your two discs tomorrow.

I have a Sony DAT 8 which I record with and it is defiately the way to go. I bought what I thought was a MD recorder by Sony about a year ago but it is a NET MD and has only an optical input no analog!! I don't know if there is some sort of adapter or anything? I was kind of pissed off and didn't realize that I couldn't record with it until I had it for a few months and couldn't return it. If anyone knows a way let me know. The DAT is just too big for shows when they pat you down. |

I know what you're talking about. On several occasions I was excited about a particular Sharp or Sony because it seemed inordinately cheap, only to read (fortunately) that it had no mic input! It's crazy that some current recorders still omit this feature.
There's gotta be some optical-analog adapter, but I honestly think it might be a bit ass backwards to go that route. Obviously it's annoying to do, but you can recover a lot of your dough by selling it online. Sorry, due.
BTW-I have a MD recorder now, so I no longer am looking. I think switchy still might be in the market.

switchy, I live in SoCal too, and work at a guitar store. We sell a neat minidisc recording pack, comes with a stereo mic and a bunch of other accessories. I'm pretty sure you can get the whole deal for around $250. Not cheap, but not ridiculous, either. |

You don't really need something that says mic. input. Line input works fine, even better in certain situations. matt |

Have any of you tried recording concerts on a Creative Nomad Jukebox? I know the first versions have an analog line-in which, while not quite ideal, suits me just fine. I'd rather be recording w/ 10gb of space for uncompressed wav than lower quality MDLP modes. |
