Today's random song of the day is Whispering Weeds.

What do you think of it?

lyrics

I went climbing up a weedy hill
Just to see what I could see
There far below the Hindu shrine where
I go from time to time

And up at the top I met dead Andy
I''m not sure how he got killed
But nailed to a tree is a photograph yeah
I always tip my hat

Oh whispering weeds
What are we talking about today?
And what''s that you say?

Up in the flats of Leo Carillo
Is a place where I can sleep
A great big rock where I did dream a
Happy stone age dream

And the darkness around me started to creep
And I knew that I had to go
''Cause night is the hour of the mountain lion who
Sent me back home crying

Oh whispering weeds
What are we talking about today?
And what''s that you say?

yeah, i'm guessing it's actually about a real hike, in Leo Carillo (North of Malibu, in LA)..

but who's "dead Andy"? and what's the Hindu shrine thing?

is there a Hindu shrine in leo carillo?

i'm guessing 'andy' died on the way up the mountain and someone put a picture up at the peak in his remembrance.

I like the "always tip my hat" part. Makes it seem like these hikes are glimpses back into the golden age past (tipping the hat an olden symbol of respect not really used much anymore) and a distant world. Someone is putting this guys picture up on the tree and probably some tending some sort of memorial marker, and Frank doesn't even know who the guy is. It's like he's entered their world.

Now who's trippy?

Dean, when I hit 1000 posts (in the not-too-distant future) will I get to choose an avatar or will I just get the standard "Denizen of the Citizen's Band"? (Or Dave, or whoever decides these things.)

It's Dave, but he's pretty good about letting everyone pick an avatar after 1000 if they beg him and send flowers. :)

I like this song, it gets in your head.

I'm not sure about this song of the day thing, I like it, but, we never quite seem to nail the song down.
