well, there was a lot of sweat. greatest concert i've seen for seven years (which was my last fb-gig , at the same location, cult of ray tour 1996)
the setlist, as far as i remember, and not in the correct order; i'm sure, there are some mistakes, maybe someone can create a more precise list:
nadine 666 caribou monkey where is my mind all my ghosts massif central southbound bevy velvety headache nimrod's son velouria When Will Happiness Find Me Again (?) New House of the Pope Headache Robert Onion This Old Heartache (?) Jane the Queen of Love I Want Rock’n’Roll Bullet freedom rock (YES YES YES!!) Goodbye Lorraine Whiskey in your shoes
i'm sure there was even more stuff of smyt and bld, but my brain...
my highlights were freedom rock (frank on the acoustic guitar, very rocking!), headache, nimrod's son and velouria. the crowd (lot of people, a very well visited concert) was mostly pleased with the pixies-stuff, which is a bit of frank's own fault, since his last visit to austria was seven years ago. but be sure that all of his post-pixies-songs were very much appreciated, especially massif centrale, whisky in your shoes, headache, bullet. and the man still can scream (caribou, 666)... the sound was perfect, the mood excellent. rich gilbert got some of the biggest cheers, he really puts up a good show. and by the way, he was the only one who didn't lose a drop of sweat. how does he do that? frank seemed very pleased with the impression he made, giving the audience a broad grin after the final song. but we really screamed enthuastically and cheered like hell all the time through. to give one final impression: my girl-friend, who is not an explicite frank-fan nor a die-hard-fan of rock music, said after the concert: "well, there we really got something for our money."
mr.black, thank you, thank you, thank you, and pleaaaase, don't wait another seven years before you come back ! |

Basically, to put it scientifically, Rich Gilbert is a legend. No way around it, the man is a genius. He also wears sweat-reducing cowboy shirts.

some small remarks..
really funny was, when frank drawed (drew?) the numbers '666' on his head with his fingers during the song...
during serafin, which in my opinion do not deserve any comment at all, frank stood like a monolith in the side-door of the stage, watching them absolutely emotionless and didn't make a single move except an ocassional nip from a beer can. really, for half an hour or so; don't no why, but i found this pretty cool...

Perhaps he was thinking: "my plan is working... I could play anything now and it would sound good. Mwa-ha-ha." Or possibly not.

i ve been to scene wien - vienna - as well . outrageous concert . first of all : serafin played really good well composed rock - wont be the last time we heard from them ! FB : big performance with 5 individuals doing their own show - but truely the garth brooks guitarist ( gilbert ) an frank himself attractet my interest most of the time . I was impressed how well they can play their instruments ( soli of gilbert and drummer ! gosh ! )... good setlist even though i didnt know all the songs - some i missed : 2 spaces , mr grieves ,1826 , at the end of miles ...
to the crowd in "scene" : obviously u enjoyed it ... but dont forget to dance !
viva frank black !
