I go from posting probably the worst thread ever, to posting undeniably the best thread ever. If anyone of you can post something I don't know about this film I'll be well impressed (although saying that I've probably consigned myself to ritual humiliation!)
So you all know that John Lee Hooker is the street musician, and James Brown is the preacher, right? But did you know that the lead singer in the choir is Chaka Khan? The Cook County Tax Assessor is Steven Spielberg? The first prisoner to get up and start dancing on the tables at the end is Joe Walsh from the Eagles? Also, did you know they had to get an air unworthiness certificate to drop the car off the bridge, to make sure it wouldn't drift? Or that they actually used 7 Dodge Sedans for the Bluesmobile including one built specifically to fall apart? That the film held the record at the time for the biggest amount of vehicle abuse?
Go on, try me.

Told you I'd end up being embarrassed. I'm guessing Bud. I know its Dolly Parton serving them, and they end up owing $200 for the drinks...

Cheeseman, you're asking for trouble by saying 'go on, try me'!!
Actually I haven't got a bloody clue what beer they drink. Thanks for having a guess!
Great film though, in my all time top 20. |

called your bluff, my boy! My number one film, I'd say. OK, heres another: Frank Oz as the prison officer; John Landis as the cop in the upturned car; Pee Wee Herman as the wine waiter. Every time a bunch of police cars crash, some says "they broke my watch!"

It certainly qualifies as a cult film. When my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I were on our 10 week post graduation US holiday in 1991 we spent a couple of days in Chicago. I insisted that we check out Lower Wacker Drive and a few other identifiable places from the film. Pretty sad when you think about it. I think we've got a picture of ourselves standing in front of the piece of sculpture near the plaza (from the closing scenes of the movie). |

Lower Wacker is no longer Lower Wacker - they have totally mucked it up now (renovation/reconstruction - trying to get rid of the homeless people). Having loved the movie as much as we have for most of our lives, living in Chicago was really cool. Great trivia! - I can't even begin to match your wits here ;) |

Apl...you've ruined my day. Lower Whacker has gone :(
You'll be telling me that they've filled in the Grand Canyon and turned off Niagara Falls next. All those lovely memories melting away.

By the way, I think that Blues Brothers 2000 is quite possibly the worst sequel in Hollywood history (and that's saying something) |

Well, Barney, there never was a Lower "Whacker" Drive anyway, so don't feel so bad ;)
And I agree, that movie sucked big donkey [....].
(I seem to be full of obscenities today. Oh well!) |

Yeah, it's even worse than Caddyshack Two. Poor Erykah Badu has to live with the fact she was in this piece of shit. I'd marry her if I wasn't already married and she met me and then fell in love with me and wanted to get married to me.
Funny , Dan Akroyd was in both movies.
I just bought the DVD of the Blues Brothers just so I could see half of Booker T and the MGS in bad speaking roles.
I really love that movie though I did notice hoe SLOW the pacing of it is compared to othe rcomedy flicks. Don't a geta me wrongo though. I lova tha movie. |
