FRANK BLACK AND THE CATHOLICS ‘NADINE’ (COOKING VINYL) A homage to a black-clad Goth girl that took Frank's fancy, Nadine is a dark and brooding chunk of bluesy rock that sounds like a leftover from Pixies days. Either that or Frank is gathering songs for their reformation? It must be hard being a Catholic, with the shadow of one of America's most seminal bands hanging over you constantly. Still to give credit where its due, this is a great number that really takes off midway through and plays like the soundtrack to a showdown in an old Spaghetti Western movie. (NM)
