I signed up for his mailing list a while ago but cancelled due to too many emails. He's definitely got a strong head on his shoulders, though. I've read up on his stance on different issues and seems like he would make a great president.

Everything crossed that will happen! Although I also like John Kerry okay. Like I said, as long as Bush is fucking gone - I'll be happy. |

Hell, The Appalachian Bean Cafe listed there is just one street away from me. Maybe I'll stop by sometime and hear them out. Funny that that website makes no mention of Dean being Democratic.

It seems like the whole Meetup.com thing is pretty liberal - so maybe that is why it's not mentioned. Anyway it can't hurt to learn more, I figure. |

I heard he just got the endorsement of 2 major labor unions - Gephart has 2 others, and the NEA probably won't endorse until after a nomination. He's looking shinier for the Dems nomination, I'd say. I still wish we could get a real 3 party system going. I'm sick of all the GOP/DNC "good-cop bad-cop" shinanagans...Arrrrggghhh
edit: I should add that I've liked him the best from the start, and as a final addendum, Clark scares the darn willies outa me ;)

I think I posted this somewhere before, but this 2004 candidates scoresheet my friend came up with is a pretty neat idea - looks like your choice is doin pretty well in the Dem section, Obfuscate (according to his scoresheet point structure, anyway):
http://www.x13design.com/bipolar/right/04scores/
It's a quick-fire way to see how your choice adds up. Apparently you can fill one out yourself, too, if you're so inclined. The links on the candidates' initials at the top take you to their respective stands on issues on the www.issues2000.org site.

Kucinich is actually a vegan. A vegan president would be insane.
The nice thing about that is it tells me he's willing to do something about the things (ie, animal cruelty) he finds out about.
Why are you guys keen on Dennis? |

A vegan candidate for President would get soooo trounced by Bush. Seriously, he woud labeled as a wacko and be lucky to win Massachusetts. I'm not saying being a vegan is bad, but if the goal is to beat Bush he's not the right guy. He also looked extreme creppy in his turtleneck at the last debate.
I'm afraid Dean isn't right guy either. He makes too many mistakes. Loyal Democrats like him because about 10 months ago he was the only one (except perhaps Clinton from the sidelines) who was standing up to Bush on Iraq and are willing to ignore his problems. But, next summer are independent votes going to like his rough edges? I'm not sure which Democrat has a better chance of beating Bush (maybe Gephardt, Edwards, or Clark), but I'm afraid the Democrats are heading down the wrong path. I really really hope I'm wrong.

I'm leaning towards Clark or Dean, but I admit I haven't been following the 2004 vote very closely. All I know is that anyone but Bush or Lieberman would be good.

from http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/DailyNews/fieldclark_feature.html
"Nov. 3 — The "Rock the Vote" spots being done by each Democratic presidential candidate will actually run on CNN, not MTV as reported last week. Each candidate was asked to submit a 30-second spot to air during the CNN forum and since Clark didn't have any ads, his campaign produced something specifically for "Rock the Vote."
A music producer shot Clark's ad in downtown New York City last week. The spot shows Clark sitting around a table with a group of young folks, sleeves rolled up in a Dean-esque manner. He leans inward, talking to the group about foreign and domestic policy issues and … well, rock bands.
One campaign source at the taping told ABC News that The General was surprised by how many takes he had to do. At a campaign stop in New Hampshire the next day, Clark told a woman he lost his voice after shooting the ad.
In an another effort to appeal to the young voters, the spot ends with Clark bumping fists with one of the young men in acknowledgement of support.
The script:
"Well, to answer your questions, no I would not have voted for an Iraq war. I didn't see an imminent threat with Saddam Hussein. I don't believe we should be using force unless it's an absolute last resort. I am pro-choice and I'm a strong believer in affirmative action-it's the right thing to do, it works. It's about the American idea of equal opportunity. And I don't care what the other candidates say-I don't think Outkast is really breaking up. Andre 3000 and Big Boi just cut solo records, that's all. (Bumping Fists with young man) I'm Wes Clark and I approve of this message."
Here's the ad where he talks about how he "would never have voted to go to war in Iraq" ahem <bullsh**t> and how he doesn't think Outkast are breaking up: http://www.rockthevote.com/multimedia/candidates/clark.artv.affl.150k.mov

All of the candidates, I think, had stupid little ads that were suppose to appeal to young voters (it was the "rock the vote" debate). Clark's ad was silly and pandering, but most of them were. |

huh - good point. It all makes me so sick. It's like the Clear Channeling/Viacomization of our political system. Like it wasn't bad enough already.....

I for one think it's sad that he thinks he can get in touch with today's youth simply by citing a few rap groups...although I am hardly a young man anymore by any stretch of the imagination.

They were stupid. Kucnich's ad had a techno beat and scenes of destruction. The Daily Show harshed on many of the ad's, but Kucnich's in particular. I didn't see Dean's ad.
Carol Mosely Braun's ad was fine, but that was because she has so little money it was just video of her giving a speech.
They also dressed down to be more hip, and Clark and Kucnich both showed up in black turtlenecks. |

They all say something like "and I approve of the content of this ad." That seemed pretty creepy the first time I heard it, but I have since heard that some new regulations, perhaps the McCain/Feingold bill, requires that to be said. |

All the ads are bizarre - I can't imagine ever being swayed by one. Usually I just find them pathetic and coying. The "approve of the content" thing is very strange - it's like how they actually have to SAY the side effects to medications in ad's now. "Side effects may include upset stomach, headache and in some cases, death". Nice. |

Yeah, this 'youth' tactic that a lot of groups try...do these creators live on another planet..or maybe it's some sort of inside joke? Who can be the most tacky?? |
