Comments first:
My personal timeline with enjoying your music was the pixies in my teens and your solo work in my twenties...I enjoyed the Pixies a lot...but I was glad you moved on...because my most favorite music is your Selftitled, Teenager of the Year and Cult of Ray. As I started mellowing out in my musical tastes...again your work came through with The Catholics...any ways...after seeing your show live many times in Vancouver...it is always a treat for my wife and I. Thx.
Question:
Dolbly Digital 5.1 DVD / DVD Audio is a must...it would be great if you started releasing your work under this format as everyone has a DD5.1 receiver and DVD Player nowadays. Any chance? if so...any work in progress with respects to this?

In due time. Dave, the site manager, has only had this forum up for just over a month. We've been lucky to have Frank make a few comments so far. (we don't want to scare him away )

Forget the Dolby Frank, release something in Sansui QS quadraphonic format. I don't have a 5.1 receiver but I have a 1974 quad unit that really rocks.

Well...Dolby ProLogic II works really well with emulating 5.1...but it's just not as good as the native 5.1 format...any ways...why watch TV in B&W when you can watch it in colour? same thoughts for me in regards with stereo compared to 5.1 ... |

if colour tvs were still as expensive and uncommon as 5.1 setups, your comment would make sense.
i couldn't believe your above comment that 'everyone has 5.1'. maybe everyone you know. *1* person i know does, besides myself. sorry but you're wrong, it's not worth the effort at this point, especially for a budget-limited fellow like frank.
bjork's last album was released in 6-channel, go buy it. 'vespertine'. |

IF it wasn't recorded in 5.1 it shouldn't be rereleased in 5.1. Too much chance of deviating from artists original soundscape, too much tweaking.... makes me nervous. Besides, tube amps and electrostatic speakers will positively slay any digital anything. |
