Motley Crue, even though I'm not really into them, I do dig 'em. Not so much the sexist party scene, but some of their songs are pretty rockin'. Lots of people try to shame me over it. This dude I work with always gives me a rough time about liking Soundgarden, but I can't say I'm a bit ashamed of it. All in all though, there's no shame in liking music just because other people don't get it. I bet everyone here's been laughed at or "What the hell?"-ed over Frank Black at some point. Does it stop you?

I wouldn't say I'm ashamed, but people might make fun of me for ABBA. And Sade-- but she's a stone fox with a sexy voice.

yeah I like weezer's first two albums. I have their 3rd and 4th too. MAladroit is actually pretty good but they just pissed me off so bad with their lack of originality and bad attitudes that I don't listen to it much. I used to be really into them and still wear a big orange hoody with WEEZER on it. I'm slightly embarrassed about that but I still wear it.

I am not ashamed of liking Weezer. I've only got the Blue Album (now there is a band that is totally unambiguous with the color of their albums) but I don't know that anyone would find it funny that I liked them. Probably the most embarassing CD I own is "Tears For Fears - Greatest Hits." It's got their only two good songs, "Shout" and "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." I just like it for the nostalgic aspect, as my parents owned "Songs From the Big Chair" when I was really young.

I don't think Weezer is a band to be ashamed to like, unless you think the Green Album is their best.

I seem to play Dare by the Human League a lot. The album probably suffers from having the monster smash hit 'Don't you want me' on it. The rest of their output is a bit dodgy though.

I also have a large collection of lp's by Rush. Played Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures recently (before my record player ground to a halt). Not sure if Rush are cool these days - but they made some stonking albums. Superb musicians IMHO. Are they Canada's most successful group ever?

You mean that Human League one is good? I bought it at a garage sale to give to this girl as a joke birthday gift, but I never even bothered giving it a listen. I always knew I'd regret it.

Rush came and played in this here city of mine last fall. I would have gone if it weren't $80 or whatever ridiculous sum it was. Another regret, missing that one - EVERYONE I know that went said it was just beyond amazing. They went some three and a half hours straight, and the range of people who liked it is enough that I'm sure it was great. My guess, though, is that it was a greatest hits type of show, because their last couple records haven't made a big splash even here in Canada. The only song I remember as of late is Test For Echo, the title cut from their '96 record. I remember I quite liked it, but the general public seems to have had their fill of Rush.

Nothing is ever something.

I love Zoot Woman, Ladytron, Superheroes, The High Fidelity and Viva La Fete.

Just 80's music, and I deteste most 80's bands, but 80's revival bands are great...stupid

Also, Weezer is nothing to be ashamed of

Weezer is only difficult to admit to because of what they're becoming. I do not see a bright future though I hope I'm wrong. They're well on their way to being completely horrible.

I'd get yourself another copy. The music has dated but Phil Oakey has a fantastic singing voice and the songs themselves are strong.

I saw Rush back in about 1990. Very very good live. Amazing performance from a trio (can't remember if they have additional musicians on stage with them). I think their songwriting has tailed off a bit in the last ten years but that still leaves a large collection of fine records.

Yeah, that's definitely music for a long drive with the windows up, but some of it is good.

I don't usually drive around town with my windows down bumping any music, but whenever I'm playing certain songs from either Black Letter Days or Show Me Your Tears loud at a redlight or passing through a parking lot,I always feel as though people are going to think I'm blasting country music.

Weezer is not a band you need to be ashamed of liking.

I'm ashamed to admit that i liked the Foo Fighters, although i only liked the first two albums, when they were still good.

I'm also ashamed to admit that i still really like Hole and Courtney Love. My obsession stared when i was 13, but i've never really got over over it. I know that Courtney is a fucked up junkie and bad mother but thats part of the reason i like her. Its sad, i know.

Nirvana is another band that i have mixed feelings towards. I got into them in 1993 when i was 13 and i was completely obsessive, then he killed himself and it just compounded the ludicrus love that i held for the band.

I still think that their music is excellent and i really do owe all of my current musical taste to Kurt Cobain, if he hadn't said he liked the Pixies i would never have heard of them , never discovered The Breeders, Frank, Sonic Youth Meat Puppets etc etc. However i do think that their music and his life has been turned into a complete cliche. I see 12 year olds wearing t- shirts with Kurt as a child or with his suicide note printed on it and it does make me ashamed to like them.

Yeah, I agree they were overrated on a professional level. While most people find the Smashing Pumpkins annoying, I thought that for a band that came out around the same time as Nirvana they were alot better musicians than Nirvana.

Coldpaly is another band not to absolutely be ashemed of, in my opinion.
Parchute was a wonderful albume and the last one is surely nice.
And what about Kiss? I must confess to have loved them in my early youth, and nowadays I think that several songs are no so bad.

Just don't put Veruca Fucking Salt and PJ Harvey in the same sentence.

They are not worthy to lick PJ's grimy sweaty guitar.

Sorry but you are talking bollocks. TBYML is a stunning album. Her vocals on The Dancer are out of this world.
