I've worked at so many wasteful companies; it's sickening. This summer at an American Greetings they would throw away thousands of cards rather than recycle them. I suggested they shred them if they were concerned about theft. Everyone I worked with, bosses included, agreed so I called the VP but never got a response back. Bastards.

Oh my god, if you only knew how many paper Best Buy wastes in a day, you would be appalled. It's disgusting, it makes me depressed, and it's not that I am in love with the environment as much as someone else, you know? I'm somewhat ashamed.

I work for a subsidiary of Sears Canada, which has stickers all over stuff promoting their recycling and environmental initiatives. I must admit, I've never seen a place that recycles so much. However, I've also never seen a place that wastes so much paper. Maybe there's just too much material moving through the building. I try to recycle whatever I can, but there's still a ridiculous volume of stuff that needlessly goes to straight waste.

Nothing is ever something.

I work on computers at a well-known college. All in all, I'd say we're pretty good at recycling. Blue cans are everywhere. All cardboard is recycled and old monitors and computers are disposed of properly. There's still a bit of paper wasted, but I'd say we'd get an A-.

My job doesn't.

There's one little awesomely eccentric and creative cafe in my town that does. One of the best places on earth, too bad they have no website. If you ever come to my town, it's one of the most unique tiny cafe's in the world...

I work with a girl from Oregon and she asked if we recycled, and then she told me almost every place out there in Oregon does recycle. I'm all "fout" it

The University I work at does a very good job of making recycling easy. There are plastic, glass, aluminium, and paper containers all over. There is even a place in the student union for recycling batteries, cell phones (they may go to battered women's shelters) and old CD's.

The city (Davis, CA) does a good job to with curbside pickups and weekly pickups of lawn trimmings.

We have a big ass dumpster for recycling cardboard out back, but that's about it. Recycling there is only practiced if it's convenient -- if the cardboard dumpster is full, we just throw boxes away. (I personally would take steps to make it a little more consistent if I were in charge, but alas I am but a lackey...) Lots of paper gets wasted, as there is no recycling system for it.

glacial, you should really make a few calls - get something set up. I should have done more but put it off too long and now I don't work there anymore. Lackey's have power if they're firm and united.

We lived in an apartment complex that use to have recycling but they got rid of it because some hassles. After a year of complaining they finally put in recycling bins, and was gratifying to see those bins fill up each week.

I don't recycling is going to save the planet (many of our problems are much more difficult than reducing our use of resources), but it does help I hope.

We recycle cans, bottles, paper, plastics, coated/coloured paper, cardboard, etc. I certainly recycle everything but I'm not sure how well my coworkers do...

We don't recycle shit at Chick-Fil-A where I am ashamed to say I work at and will be quitting as soon as I can find another job. It sickens me at school to see kids not recycling when there are recycling comtainers right next to the trash cans.

Doesn't Chick-Fil-A have a strong Christian theme to it? Like subtle Christian music palying in the background and happy meals with Christian lessons.

When I started at my job, they had no cardboard dumpster, which was ridiculous considering how much of it we go through. I made them get one. Can I be in some sort of environmental parade now?

I have brought up the subject of recycling many a time to my bossman but, shit nothing. I mean we sell used cd's so we change the cases.... of every single cd that comes through here and we have quite a large number that gets processed everyday. and all of those old cases just get thrown away....thats A LOT of cases.

She was looking for some...place....to go....

Maybe you could sell the spare cases on eBay or something.

At my job we waste fucking crates of paper. You know, so-and-so writes something up to be distributed to anyone and everyone, runs the copies, notices their fuck-up, and dumps everything in the big dumpster outside. (The roof is being repaired. I think the idea is to mix their wastefulness with that of the contractors. Just double-check the important stuff and the problem is solved.)

On occasion i install office furniture for a company that uses 'Artipax' (or something like that, they're out of Quebec..)

They use SO MUCH PACKAGING!! It's insane. Honestly, it takes as long to remove all the shit from it, as to put it together.

The story is the company owns the cardboard and plastic company that packages the stuff, so they go to town and devour the planet..scary.

Packaging in general is pretty bad news.

I'm pretty good in my own life, i create about half a plastic bag of garbage every month. (Housemates complain that i never take out the kitchen garbage...but i never use it!!)

I try not to buy shit with packaging...and then i compost, and wash and reuse all my plastic baggies, recycle all the rest of the plastic, as well as paper, cans, glass, etc..

And being closed on Sundays, yes. I don't know that those cows that can't spell are associated with Christianity, though.
