is it only me, or is Frank's first album unambiguously yellow? as opposed to orange.. i vote we start calling it "the yellow album", if we're going to do this color thing.

| The cover is yellow, but the side (what you see when it's sitting on the shelf) is orange. I propose we called it the "orange sided album". |

The other side is orange and this side is a very orangish yellow, though admittedly still yellow. And much of the interior as well as the CD itself are orange. You'll never change me!

i usually call it "self-titled" but i think now i'm going to start calling it "the unambiguously yellow album".. or better yet, "old yeller".

| I call it an album with great songs that is too mechanical in production, at least for Frank Black. I'm sure he wanted it to sound completely the opposite of the loose, sporadic, hyper feel of the Pixies, but it's far too tight and precise. Sure, if it were Devo, that's how it should sound, but since it's Frank Black, it just doesn't do the songs justice. |

and strangly enough people have called orange ever since...
and for your information, the creature on the SMYT cover is in fact A CAT!

A week back, I saw a japanese cat-charm in Spitalfields Market that was pretty much identical to the SMYT one. I was pretty tempted to buy it...but i managed to resist the urge. |

Hee hee, I am a trend setter. The CD itself (or the album, if you will) is quite orange, and the whole album has a very orange theme. If you just want to look at the cover, then I suppose it might be called the yellow-orange rays with white interspersed and orange mountains and ...
Or... the orange album. ORANGE POWER!!

This thread makes me laugh like a little school girl.
It could be called definitely more yellow than orange on the front with a shade of green and black and some orange mountains and the yellow and white stripes and the white album just as much as yellow according to the front but the back is all encompassingly orange except for the yellow text same with the sides inside a wide array of colos that could make impossible to choose from burnt siena, red, weird computer art work with an apparent stipe theme with a purpilish blue and off yellow a desert like yellow funny black and red hat album with blue and green and pink with more stripes that look like weird shadows or abbey road more yellow sun light stripes with a funny green suiton nuzzling a fucking lizard yellow and blue butterfly ablum yellow and blue funny scary galsses millions of permutations color and texture of the sunlight stripes theme black and white funny suit in the hillbilly garage with orange and blue blue or fuckin yellow with cute frank standing on the ugly strip in nice clothes or fake him looking at a fake sun on top of stripes that don't shine from the sun anymore, white light and flat curves

Now I have to listen to the yellow album non-stop for a couple days of daze.
