He already recorded a new album recently...it's finished, and it contains 12 songs: 7 originals, 5 covers. The covers are "dylan, angst, stones, reid paley." Right from the man himself...for all you Plainers, check:

Sounds like it's along the lines of SSMVGD, probably sharing some of the same songs (Pan American Highway was mentioned in that link). But if he keeps putting out quality records, I'll keep buying them

To me it sounds like this is his next album. Pan American Highway was mentioned because Jeremy wanted to know if it was an original song (not meaning one of the originals on his next album). PAH has already been released as a B-Side on one of the DITS singles. |

yah, the wording was kinda confusing. it said "there are 7 originals, and 5 covers". and then the next sentence was "i asked if PAH was an original." [b]not[b] "i asked if PAH was one of the originals." referring to the 7 in the previous sentence. but anyway... |

what DITS single has Pan American Highway? as far as I knew, it's still unreleased (aside from SSMVGD)..
i hope it winds up on one of the new albums. that's one of my current favorites..
as for new albums.. when i saw him at Amoeba Records for the in-store release performance he played like 3 new songs.. as in, new new.. and said that he and Davd (P.) had been recording a few weeks prior.

I wonder which Reid song he's going to cover? That's a more intriguing question, to me. |

I think Reid Paley sucks. Frank has a weird choice for acts he tours with. Reid being one of them, the other was this guy name jonny polanski, just awful! |

I hope he rerecords Humbolt county massacre. That song is a truly "Frank Black" song. Quintessential Frank. or something like that. Maybe too much like abstract plain, but that's the whole point of it.

i agree about Humboldt. i have to day, i didn't fully appreciate it until i heard it live, solo, on that Prinzebar recording in Germany (some in-store he was doing in support of DITS)..
he explains about Robert Gunther in further detail and you can hear the words better than on the single.
classic Frank songwriting. |

I like that Prinzebar bootleg, gives some good insight into the songs, and I love the beginning talking stuff. |
