Ok, so this is my first post & it's a question! Like to think I have Frank's career pretty much covered on records and stuff, but there's one song I can't pin down. Frank did a solo show in London back in August I think it was, in which he played loads of material off the new album, but he also played this excellent song about a family of shrimps getting caught in nets and stuff, don't laugh, it was sung with a lot of emotion, be it a little tongue-in-cheek! But where the hell did that song come from?? I thought it would end up on SMYT and I suppose it could be a cover - anyone out there know? |

It is a very old cover - Frank said that Elvis apparently played it during his career as well. Generally it is called The Shrimp Song - and as far as I know he has never recorded it, BUT there are random recordings of live shows and radio shows where he played it. I have one, but I don't have a CD burner - so I won't be much help to you. Someone out there probably will though...anyone? |

Hey, thanx for the help guys! Hopefully I'll get to hear a version at some point, even if it isn't Frank's! Shame he didn't do a studio recording of it and put it out as a b-side or something.... |

Jettison, do you mean is "ought" to be or is "supposed" to be? If the latter, where do you get your information?

not sure about copyright issues. Would that keep you from DLing them? I know that none of the songs are original so I'm not sure where the copyright would come into play.

When Frank did his solo show in Paris this summer, before he played it, he read it in French and it was very very funny.

Was that when he had a translator repeating the lyrics to the audience and they were all laughing and Frank said, "It's really a very sad song"

No, that was the dutch version from the VPRO show. In Paris some guy wrote the words of the song in french on a paper, and Frank read it phonetically before singing the song in english.
