Heh, I was just chatting with someone that my little brothers' metal band (Blacken) do a cover of that song. It's really funny. |

I don't like bands like Placebo, Silverchair, Matchbox 20, Linkin Park... I wonder why these *average* bands so many indie-fans love and never say anything about Frank Black's great music. Moreover, I really hate hip hop and soul music. Grrrr.

Grrr rr ruf! frank sings what could be considered soul music at times but that's me reminding of the fairly common thread a word like that implies -what? no JaMES bROWN??? -GET UP -GET DOWN get edubacated -and since your so close to Austria check out some Kruder and Dorfmeister.. their collection (on either G-Stone or K-7 -k-7 i believe) i can't see anyone not liking their stuff -it's very well done you'll either dig it a lot or blow a major fuse i suppose.

Ok, maybe I am wrong. I especially don't like this modern Club/Dance-Soul music style. This is what I meant. I have to admit, I am not well informed about this music style. Sorry ;-).

Valhalla, I'm thinking you mean disco? Yeah to that one! phooey! :)
Although, I guess that makes me uncool in Iggy's eyes, cause he says it's all just disco, right? |

'hip hop' is pretty obnoxious -it seems when the term was first coined it meant something pretty cool but turned into garbage ya disco can pop a vien but there are a few gems i guess.

I would generally sympathise with disco sucks. I know people who insist that you can only have a real party if disco music is playing, but I have to get up and get out if something like Yes Sir I Can Boogie comes on (I know this is old-school disco as compared with "modern Club/Dance-Soul music style", but it still sucks).
Generally I sit at the back at parties frowning and waiting for someone to put Brain Damage by Pink Floyd on the stereo.

The first record I ever bought was 'Boogie Nights' by Heatwave. Top disco. Would go on my fantasy jukebox. (Along with Funky Gibbon by The Goodies. All together now 'oo, oo, oo the funky gibbon'.

Oh yes, the Funky Gibbon, now you're talking genuine comedy genius. Sheer class.
I just got a chance to listen to House Of Jealous Lovers by The Rapture properly for the first time. It's really really bad. Obviously its twenty years after the event so it must be a chance to rehash PiL and a bunch of other post-punk stuff in a self-consciously hip fashion...

I think Chevelle is like the poor man's Deftones (and Tool too).
I've listened to a majority of Chevelle's album and it's kind of annoying. Alot of it sounds like Deftones and I can't stand how much space they put in between the words/vocal phrases.
I [8 measures] like [4 measures] to [12 measures] scream.
(not actually Chevelle lyrics and maybe slightly exaggerated to make my point)

you're not wrong -your meaning was clear -hell, james brown is basically funk -not soul -but it is soul if you know what i mean. -massive attack is a british group whose first two LP's are absolutely stellar and i'll be damned if they actually fit 'one' category -maybe trip hop but trip hop is rife with lame stuff -and some fringe artists just get lumped into that category for no good reason and on and on. if a jazz enthusiast were told to go get some rock music and he went out randomly listening -he could get way discouraged before he found a frank black and the catholics or a clash... and he would look at the aesthetic of some of the crap bands mentioned here and go 'BBBLLLAARRGGGGGGFFFFHHH...rock sucks!' -basically thats' my point.

I think Television has been a great band and Tom Verlaine one of the best gutar player in rock history! It us absolutely unbelievable that somebody could even think to consider Television at the same level of Backstreetboys!!!!!!!!!!! Tartar, I hope you were joking!!! I never seen a single person with a Television shirts on and I think that does not exist a Televison shirt! Tartar where have you seen these people !? I respect your disliking of Television, but you really cannot have such a low consideration of the band. Have you really listened to Marquee Moon? Have you ever listened to 'Little Johnny jewel' live version ?

What really pissed me off was that guy from Felt, not that I give a shit about Felt, baggin on Television for reuniting 'for the money'... this is a band that has played MAYBE 10 shows since 2001? And they're in it for the money?!?!? Not to mention that I saw them last month and it was probably the most sublime musical experience of my life. I couldna been happier if God himself reactivated the Triforium.

i didn't read any replies to this thread, or anything but the title, since anyone who disagrees with me is obviously an idiot, and i know my own opinion is right so i don't need the validation of other people agreeing with me.

oh fuck it, how about just EVERYTHING that gets played on mainstream radio and VH1/MTV?
the only problem with that is i like the white stripes, and decided i liked the strokes after i saw them live.

Surely you jest in your arrogance...
re-read your post, dude. (I use that term loosely, as calling you a dude connotates some vague aspect of your masculinity.) Just breathe in...
...and take in how big a pretentious, arrogant little bitch you sound like. Really. Just read it again, over and over, until it is clear in your mind. The thoughts will form in time, don't worry.

Ebb Vicious, you are wrong from the start !!!!!!! You have to learn the meaning of the concept 'RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE OPINION' even when you are not agree with them. Not being agree with somebody DOES NOT mean not to have respect for him !!!!! Thin it over a while and maybe you'll realize how much wrong you have been.

Hey anazgnos, you've been very lucky for having seen Televison live!!! How was Tom Verlaine guitar playing ?? Still great ??? I'm sure it is still so! Sorry, but what I don't like is to lose time to think about the bands I hate, I prefer to think of the bands I like!
