I had the idea how going to see a Pixies/FB Tribute Band here would be a Good idea. How right i was...for it makes y'realize how great the greats are! It was entertaining for a quarter, yet all the more it just infuriated me. I nearly became involved with a 'tribute' one time over, but i just couldnt. Its only enjoyable for a certain time.

Whats you guys verdict on the 'Tributes'? ever seen a good one?

Nimrod's Son is the Pixies. I don't think they really do any FB, though Doog would be the person to ask.

ARGHHHHHHHH I KEEEEEEEEEEEL YOU AND EEEEEEEEEEAT YOUR FACE AND YOUR CHILDRENS FACES AND FAECES!

No, people not liking tribute doesn't bother me at all. We only "tribute" the Pixies because we f*cking love them and love playing the tunes. We don't have any management, we barely make any money, we aren't lookalikes (although I'm on the portly side, I have long hair and glasses) or jaw-dropping soundalikes. I wear the trademark red lumberjack shirt sometimes and play the same guitar as Black, but thats it really. I still listen to the Pixies in my own space, I am a fan.

People just like coming to see those songs that they love that they never got to see the first time. I don't know why there's all this hoo-haa about tribute bands. If they do a good job, why not eh?

I got into Nirvana around '95 so never got a chance to see them live. I've seen the Nirvana tribute Teen Spirit a few times (we've also played with them), and they get it right. It's a little more questionable when one of the band members has died, but when a band split of their own accord like the Pixies, I don't see any harm.

I've been writing my own stuff for nearly a decade, am working on a solo album and playing in an originals band. I'm not trying to copy the Pixies to make up for my own lack of talent.

Don't piss on my bonfire and I won't crap on yours.

Hey Brad Delp of Boston has a great tribute band to the beatles called Beatle Juice. Doesn't mean you can't make it on your own.

I don't have anything against tribute bands as such, but it sort of strikes me that a band only playing songs by one other band or artist is rather limiting. If I had a band (not a likely possibility, since I would have to learn how to sing and/or play an instrument first), I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up covering a few Frank songs, but I'd hope we'd also play songs by other bands (not to mention stuff we wrote).
